Where is it?
Why, oh why, is this not a thing?...
As someone who is totally addicted to using poisons and pots in Cyrodiil... Like... Nothing would make me happier then waking up to a small pile of herbs and shrooms in my mail.
But, sadly, this is the only crafting field that does not provide a hireling to unlock.
ZOS.. Why you do dis?

You can have a look at the "Shadowy Supplier" in the "Dark Brotherhood" skill line.

Once every 20h hours you can go to an Outlaws Refuge and talk to him. Take the first option and you get either a few potions or a little bag with 3x3 different alchemy/poison ingredients and a solvent. Chances for the latter seem to be 3/4, at least for me..
Not as good as getting a hireling's letter in your mailbox every 12 hours, but still better than nothing, and only for 1 skill point..

DO NOT DO THIS.
take the second option. the first option is "Remain silent" and it will get you nothing but an aura of mystery, deep mystery.
"if you doubt your numbers, your number of doubts will grow."

well.. ok.. technically the first option is indeed "<Remain silent>", but apart from the "aura of mystery" nothing happens and the cooldown won't be triggered.
So take the first meaningful option, for god's sake.. which is actually the second option.

In the game's early days I heard an explanation that made a lot of sense: Alchemy hirelings wern't implemented because there was worry that the reagents were already too readily available. They were the only crafting materials that were the same in every single zone, so every character could pick the same flowers no matter what level or map location. At that time all other crafting materials were based on the zone level, and so had a semi--limited availability.
With the implementation of One Tamriel, this explanation no longer holds water. This should really be revisited by the developers.

I agree, and have made this very suggestion myself several times.KochDerDamonen wrote: »Unsent.Soul wrote: »RavenRoxie wrote: »

@Unsent.Soul To most forum-goers, if it's not on the first couple of pages it's a dead thread. Point out a fresh recent thread on this topic. It always takes more than one thread to get ZOS's attention, and even more to get them off their rumps and change something.
The reasoning behind having Snakeblood (useless trash passive) instead of a hireling is outdated, the devs really should sweep back over this.
Not that I'm against the idea. 9 out of 10 times I pick up an alchemy writ it wants 3 nirnroot and I just can't keep up with demand when I'm doing that on multiple characters.
Is that in Imperial City? Or Cyrodiil proper? You can get boatloads of reagents for cheap from the telvar merchants.
