ZOS When are you going to get rid of crown crates?

@ZOS_GinaBruno

I got a lot of money in my steam account right now, and the only reason why I'm not spending it on this game is because theirs NOTHING to buy. I'm not about to get myself into the financial gamble by gambling away my money on items that I may or may not get.

So again when are you gonna get rid of the gambling crown crates, and actually respect your players by selling us actual items instead of RNG?

As much as I'd like to see the crates die in a fire, they were quite successful and are likely here to stay.

So far in 2017 I've spent 220 crowns, that's a MASSIVE drop from what I typically spent over the last year... but I'm not going to throw my money in a hole. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know what you mean, my Crowns are collecting dust and I have so little to spend them on since they are adding so little stuff to the store through direct purchase :/

If only they put some sort of, I don't know, Warden Class Change Token in the store so I could buy a couple of them when Morrowind comes out and get rid of some of my Crowns... Or perhaps some sort of black hair dye

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

It's not a good idea for ZOS to make a habit into putting ONLY good items in the crown crate store. It will further *** off players like me to the point of not financially supporting the game anymore due to greed.

They hired someone who's job is to monetize everything as much as possible.

I sincerely doubt they are going to get rid of the crates as long as they keep this person employed.

The monetizers have mostly ignored any and all suggestions about ways to possibly make the clown crates a little more acceptable. That included suggestions about placing the non-themed items, mounts, pets, hats, whatevers that are NOT part of the themed clown crates, like the red pit wolf and black mane lion, up for outright sale when the new clown crate season starts. The clown crates would still have the "get the special shiny early by gambling for it", and the people who did not want the special themed shinys could wait, and buy the specific item they want for the price ZOS posts it at. Totally up to the buyer if the outright sale cost would be worth it or not.

I was hoping at least one of the sabercat mounts would not be in the crates. I'll buy it and the cub as soon as its released. I won't spend hundreds of dollars hoping to get the one item I want and tons of other items I do not. ZOS would get money from me for items up for outright sale. They won't get any money from me for the clown crates.

ZOS will likely continue to sell these gambling boxes. Enough people seemed to spend money on these gambling boxes to convince ZOS that it is worth continuing to sell them. While I don't agree with that, I understand where ZOS is coming from in continuing to support a clear source of revenue.

By that same token, ZOS needs to also understand me and those who are like-minded. Gating new content behind gambling boxes and making it exclusive is absurd and alienates a significant portion of your customers. If you want to continue selling your gambling boxes, then by all means do so. But I fully expect all content in those boxes to be made available in the Crown Store after a reasonable amount of time. Other games do this (like Path of Exile for example). Make the incentive for your gambling boxes the convenience of getting the content sooner than everyone else - similar to how most of the Crown Store is sold on the same premise of convenience. Don't gate new content behind gambling boxes. Make it available to the rest of your customers who don't want to gamble.

Why are you harassing Gina? You issue should be directed at people Like Rich Lambert, Matt Firor, or someone from the marketing department, not a go between for the community and developers.

I'm not harassing her but trying to get her attention about a significant matters within the game itself. She spend more time on the forums then @ZOS_RichLambert and @ZOS_MattFiror put together, and therefor shes the only one that we can voice our concerns to.

Lambert is the Creative Director. I think we can all agree that Crown Crates are not very creative, and that he has little to do with them.

Firor probably knows what is going on, but my guess is that he is too busy with the Studio to care about Crown Crates.

Honestly, I don't know if ZOS runs the Crown Store, or whether Bethesda runs the Crown Store. I suspect that it is Bethesda that decides what will be sold in the Crown Store, and at what price, along with the Crown Crate contents and seasons. I don't know if anyone from there even bothers with the forums here.

The ZOS community managers might be the only people here that can pass along whatever wonderful, creative, and always constructive, comments we might have about Crown Crates.

They keep the inventory in the store low on purpose, although I can only guess as to why. It's not like the virtual game files take up room in a warehouse, or anything. :/

They really do need to expand the offerings in the store, even if it's just by a little bit. There should be some things in the store that should be there all the time, too, like the costume sets where you get 3 thief costumes, or 3 mage costumes, or 3 armored knight costumes. I started playing after they took the mage set out of the store, and never even got a chance to buy it. I can't buy what's not there.

Emphasis not mine. And the claim is complete malarkey, unless you count the 20 or so perpetual complainers on the forums to be a significant presence.

I don't. Know why? Because I can't go anywhere in-game for more than a few minutes without seeing a dozen of these crate-exclusive mounts, pets, or costume parts; there was immediate saturation, and it's only gotten "worse" as time goes on. As the artists get better, I imagine more and more people will pony up the dough for bundles of crates, and those behind it will continue patting themselves on the back for such a clever scheme.

Just saying. Many people may not be happy about it, but exponentially more players seem to be buying into the system. If you want to protest, the only real way is to never cave and purchase any, but the whole "most of us hate it and will take our money elsewhere" shtick just isn't going to work. Look around. It's obviously a lie.
"I haven't really played much yet, but lemme tell you all about how the game should include X and be a lot more like Y!" - Half the posters on this forum.
"I've been here for years, and lemme tell you all about how they should never change or evolve Z, because then the game would be ruined forever." - The other half of posters on this forum.
