Decorative wax

Anyone else having trouble finding this stuff? I've had a few but seems to be the hardest mat to find at least for me so far.

I've found about 20 of those. I struggle with regulus.

I think it comes from containers like where food is found.

Decorative Wax is the easiest to find, try looting all urns, barrels, crates, cabinets, baskets, etc

I've got loads of it. Comparatively.

Hardly any regulus or blank runes though.

Heartwood is better than regulus, but not as good as Decorative Wax.

Clean pelts don't turn up much either...

Go in delves or any area with an abundance of barrels, crates, and such. They are fairly easy to find, but with the other mats you can easily farm them all at the same time. Generally wax is not near many of the other mats.

You basically have to go around the game like your wearing one of these

Wax is commonly found by looting urns, best if you are on a search for blueprints as the wax doesn't drop around the other raw materials like everything else.

Go to Dwemer and draugr delves and check all the containers.

Go raid all the containers in Hollow City. No justice system there, so it's all up for grabs.

I seem to get a few everytime I do Darkshade caverns, from the bug things. Sorry to be vague but I'm sure you know the mobs I mean :-)

Run through Ilessen tower in Glenumbra and open every container you see. Old Orsinium in Wrothgar is a good place to run through grabbing everything you can. Old Orsiium is also good for finding furniture recipes and other stuff.

I get tons of Regulus just farming metal nodes.

I've been farming Old Orsinium for furniture recipes, there's a particular area I like with a high density of urns. The side effect is that the urns there drop decorative wax as well. I usually leave with 5-6 furniture recipes and a couple dozen wax after a single 20-25 minute run. Even after crafting a lot of wax food for display in my house I still have almost 200 saved up.

The public dungeon in the city of Windhelm is good for decorative wax too - a run through that usually gets me over a dozen wax, 2-3 blueprints, and if I'm really lucky, a couple of clean pelts from the skeever packs.

You should try going to Old Orsinium, I found a lot in the jars and pots.

With the recent weekly update, chitinous creatures now also have a chance to drop wax,

Made several adjustments to the places Decorative Wax can be found. These changes increase the overall availability of Decorative Wax, and make finding it a more consistent experience.
Decorative Wax now comes from a wider variety of sources, including insects and other chitinous creatures, wasp nests, barrels, urns, alchemy bottles, cabinets, cupboards, and backpacks.
Reduced the chance to obtain Decorative Wax from several sources that were dropping wax more often than intended.
Fruits, vegetables, and meats found in the world no longer have a chance drop Decorative Wax.
Plentiful Harvest no longer applies to furnishing materials found from the sources listed above.

Insects now huh? I haven't found any from insects, time to try again

Mudcrabs, oddly, sometimes drop clean pelts and wax as well.

That being said, I got a lot more wax from containers when Homestead first went live. Not so much now. Not sure if they shadow-nerf drops shortly after a big update but it's felt that way more than once ...

Was scarce in weeks 1 & 2 and dropping mainly in urns, now it is dropping from food/drink nodes and even from the occasional mob.

yup... mudcrabs for decorative wax and also, bizarrely, clean pelts.

crocodiles for clean pelts too.... weird eh?

nope, I have been running Malabal Tor public dungeon lately and I found lots of furniture crafting mats, in crates, barrels, sacks, etc...

Last I checked, my lowest of the Homestead Mats was Mundane Rune at 49. My Decorative Wax was about 260.

So no, not having this problem.

I've found 32 since homestead dropped. The lowest total of all the materials for blue prints..

I've got wax from spiders. Go to Old Orsimium where there's tons of 'em.

I've got like 40 regulus, 50+ mundane runes, 4 heartwood and 2 wax... RNG seem different for everyone
