WHAT?!? DW's Rapid Strikes is one of the hardest hitting single target abilities in the game, even greater than 2H. This is WHY ESO has TWO weapon bars, you aren't going to get ALL THINGS from every weapon. Further, Steel Tornado holds one of the, if not the, strongest AoE in the game considering it's an AoE AND finisher.

I use both a 2H greatsword and DW build, depends on the mood and feel. I like rapid strikes because of the increased percentage of damages on successive strikes, but I don't see it as harder hitting that a greatsword. I can take out any single target with a greatsword a bit quicker than a DW. With the empowered passive of the wrecking blow, you can really do some huge damages. Granted, you don't want to start a fight with a wrecking blow. Yes, that really doesn't have the big desired juice. However, prior to any wrecking blow, either in a rotation against bosses or single target, I use a heavy strike first. So, the second strike will be the wrecking blow, which then I am able to dish out and sustain from 26k to the mid 30k, without buff. With the passive buff of the weapon damage increase and certain build, I have seen damages from the wrecking blow hit from the 38-41k (yes, single strike, but not too sustainable.) When I use DW, I do the same. Heavy first, then DW or other skill.

I have tested both the greatsword and DW rotations on single targets with 100k-ish hp and world/area bosses from the 1.8 to 3.6 hp, and I have taken out the targets faster with the greatsword build and rotations. A lot of people frown on the greatsword because of it slower speed of attack and strikes, but I see the huge damages when the strikes hit compensate greatly for the speed. Plus, I'm not sure if many people understand that a single strike from a greatsword can affect up to 3 targets at once.. it does.

I do like the flurries from the rapid strikes and the aoe damages from steel tornado, but the tornado has been nerfed, I believe by 50%, it seems. So, the tornado is not as strong as prior. Even with the DW, I use venomous claw more often now than steel tornado, and I can still take out the normal group/mobs of 3-5 fairly quick. Even hitting the public dungeons where steel tornado would demolish the group of adds fairly quick, using combo of heavy/venomous claw and rapid strikes are as effective.

I get both awesome aoe and single target damage on my magsorc using only a destruction staff.

You also have to keep in mind what CLASS you're playing Stamina too. Because for a StamSorc running Crit Surge for healing, 2H isn't going to crit as often unlike using Rapid Strikes/Steel Tornado. I haven't really noticed ST being nerfed 50%, I know they reduced the radius awhile back, but it still does more damage as enemies lose health. From what I've read, as you said, people frown on 2H because of the 'DPS' and the slower attack speed drops the DPS... there have been statistics on this and it seems I recall them pretty much coming out with 2H on the losing end compared to DW... but lest also not forget that DW benefits from the additional set bonus as well- which also helps give DW an advantage. Most of my StamSorc builds I use Bow/DW, but sometimes it's fun to grab a 2H and WB spam things to death! ;)

So there was an adjustment to the dual wield but are you suggesting that now its too low because of that change or are you suggesting its been to low always for a stamina build?

On my night-blade it was pretty potent before the change. I haven't played after the recent patch but it didn't read as negating stamina in my quick browse, just magic

DW is pretty good. Has AOE, DOT, Major Brutality, Healing Morphs, Executes, Single Targets, etc.

You got 15 Class abilities with 2 morphs each to throw in the mix...CC? You have Mass Hysteria, Talons, Rune Prison, etc.

Nothing wrong with it. Pointy end goes toward enemy. Dual wield is great for both STA and MAG builds. There are plenty of builds posted out there that prove this. Just spend some more time with it and you'll find the right way to use it.
