Pre-order digital - currently have disc XBOXone

Currently I have the physical disc for the base game. Would I be able to on the XBOXone order the digital version upgrade of Morrowind or will I need to get the disc?
I assume if the digital works I'd still need the main game disc in the xbox to play?

IIRC, the digital should work. It should operate much like Destiny with their big DLCs where it will download and store all the DLC/Expansion on your HD and then you just pop in your base game CD to play.

I'm in a similar position, I've got the disc version on xbox1, I'd like to spend the extra to get the full digital morrowind version so I no longer need to use a disc.

Answers I've got so far are:
(1) yes this will work
(2) it'll just install morrowind and I'd still need the base game disc so I should just get the digital upgrade
(3) it'll work but if I do it now it'll think I have morrowind which isn't out until June so I wont be able to play ESO again until then.

Unless there's any definite info out there somewhere I'll probably just play it safe and get the digital upgrade.
