Housing Blueprint Drop Rate

Is it supposed to be this bare/low?

Since Homestead dropped, I've found all of three (3) Blueprints. I'm not paying the exorbitant prices for them at the Guild Traders, but while I routinely perform the tasks that they're supposed to drop from, it seems that the RNG chance percentages are set far too low.

Either that or RNGsus hates me.

I bought one medium house for Gold, despite my... well, hatred for this absolutely bare-bones Housing offering, but my wife wanted a house for our Khajiit. So I'm trying to furnish it, but the vendors don't offer ANYTHING worthwhile, and the blueprints aren't coming.

Was this your design, ZOS? To dangle the carrot out there, then reward the players with nothing? Or was this a scam-artist method of herding everyone to the *** Crown Store?

The more I play the game with this abortion of a Housing update installed, the more I *** hate it.

I think the point is so you aren't just getting blue prints left and right so you have to depend on othersome to find and sell them, helping the player econony. Maybe. Idk.

PS4 NA, I haven't found the drop rate to be low. I found about a dozen last night while not even looking for them. All in chests, drawers, barrels, and crates.

Heartwood has been hard to find though.

Nice try at a little dig, but no. That's not my issue.

I'm not asking for every *** blueprint in three days, but I at least want them to drop regularly. Especially since the crafting style of the received blueprint is also on an RNG table.

Of the three blueprints I've received, I have received an Argonian tent (a *** TENT), a Redguard chair, and a Bosmer *** leather wall section/screen.

It's a Khajiit House, inhabited by our two Khajiit characters.

The sheer amount of RNG mixed with the low drop rate is pure bull ***.

This doesn't tempt me to hit the Crown Store to fork over real world money. This just makes me wish more and more that I could play the *** game without this abortion of an update!!!

Might just be your luck though. I've played around 50 hours since Homestead release and have gotten at least more than 50 of them, most them green with a few blue and purples.

Well, recipes are just part of it. Wait until you start looking for the mats you need. Then your gaskets will really pop.

I'm finding the special mats left and right at most every Crafting node I hit. That's not my issue.

My issues are with the blueprint drop rate. If i can ever find something I'd use (or ever find any more of them), I'll have plenty of crafting mats.

And as I said above, I'm not paying the exorbitant prices that they're currently being listed for.

If you want Khajiit blueprints, you're supposed to have a better chance of them dropping in AD zones. Make sure you're actually opening containers in the correct faction. Look for delves that have a lot of containers and open everything.

Prices on blueprints are already dropping drastically on console. Stuff that was being sold for 10, 20, 30k on day 1 is now lucky to sell for 1, 5, 10k. The problem with traders is that people shove things in there for day 1 prices, and don't bother to update it until it expires and gets sent back to them. Give it a month, use that time to farm mats (because you'll need it!) and then shop around on traders when everyone gets their ridiculously priced crap back and relists it for a decent price. The supply will be much bigger by then too, and here will be a ton of duplicates to choose from.

Decorating your house was not intended to be done in 3 days, or even three weeks time; it's a slow and gradual process. The crown store is for the impatient people.

Cold Harbor is a great place to look for blueprints, nothing counts as stealing, so I recommend hitting it up and doing a loop through all the buildings and containers a couple of times a day. If you aren't opposed to theft and laundering, there are a couple of ships in Glenumbra that you can make loops through too. (This won't get you exclusively Khajiit plans though, but there's no rule saying you have to use exclusively Khajiit furniture in a Reaper's March house.)

The NPC Merchant prices are not that bad, at least the ones I have seen. The prices for Achievement Trophies are.
I'm finding the special mats left and right at most every Crafting node I hit. That's not my issue.

Special Mats are just a part of it, your going to need lots of other stuff. 20 to 50 Style Mats per item made, Flour, lots of Flour, Rakeipas, etc etc etc. I think ZOS has poked into our crafting bags and set this up to suck out all the excess we have in there.

Give it a little time. Furniture blueprints have a drop rate that is similar to provisioning recipes. Right now, it feels low, but it won't be too long before you have more than you know what to do with.

Three weeks after PC release, I have 163 recipes. I needed to create an Excel spreadsheet just to track them all. (Though note that I've been deliberately farming them, so that's probably higher than most)

If you really want to buckle down and get blueprints, you can farm them pretty easily anywhere where there are a lot of containers... delves, crafting spots, cities, etc. One round around a fully upgraded Hollow City usually gets me 3 or 4, and the same for an hour of farming a good stealing route with my thief.

I agree this update could have been implemented better... no doubt about that. I'm of the strong belief that they should have released the new mats a month early, so people would have time to accumulate them, and I agree that what's available on the NPC vendors is abyssmal.

For now, I'd set Housing aside. Give it a month to mature while you go and do whatever you enjoy doing in this game... doing dungeons, questing, PvP, RP, whatever. Then, after a month, start shopping at the guild stores for recipes, mats, and furnishings; the market will have stabilized into decent prices by then. Check to see what recipes you've personally accumulated, and start using the mats you've gathered to make them.

I absolutely agree that the first week of this update was The Worst, capital T and W. But it gets better. Give the system time to age, and you start seeing the big picture that the devs were going for.

...though not having lightable fireplaces available without spending Crowns is still pretty BS. :p

Blueprints are rare and are not being sold quite often in guild traders. The droprate is ridiculous and must be adjusted. I have been looking in ALL guild stores since launch every 2 hours or so and I have never seen EVEN 1 blueprint for a dark elf trestle, scaled once. I have grinded a lot and never got the ones I was looking for.

Why do people keep defending this??
The drop rate is awful and it wont get better. The whole Homestead system is locked behind triple RNG gates,
Its a blatant strategy to push people to crown store. Homestead is currently the most arduous grind in game.
Worse still, when you do finally grind for months to furnish your house, it wont actually have any function. The balance between fun, grind and reward is seriously out of sync with this update

Because for some of us, it's defensible? Because while it's not perfect, some of us do enjoy the work and sense of accomplishment that comes from furnishing our houses?

The grind is the entire point. You may not like it and that's fine, but it's clear that the devs want the core function of housing to be the time and effort it takes to furnish it. This is meant to be something to occupy players for months, to keep people logging in every day to get the next candle... the next carpet... That's the gameplay they set out to provide: rather than giving houses a "function" outside a few bells and whistles, they wanted the core of the gameplay to come from decoration. If decoration wasn't a grind, everyone would be done with their houses in three days and then never touch them again, and that's not something they want.

There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with how it was implemented. Personally, I will happily criticize the drop rates of some of the materials, and the fact that I have five crafting specialists that I now need to consolidate into one Master Crafter. The update isn't perfect, and it's not for everyone.

But just because you don't see the appeal doesn't mean other people aren't enjoying it in its entirety, in exactly the spirit the devs intended.

Yes the drop rates suck. No I don't believe it's a bug. No I don't believe that they will change it if enough people complain.

I think the best thing to do is accept you are just not going to get everything you need to fully furnish a large house immediately through normal game play. No one is being forced into the crown store against their will. Don't buy into the hype. Go do things you enjoy and try to ignore it the best you can until guild store prices come down, if it is that upsetting.

For some reason I've been getting a ton of blueprints. I got like 5 in Mistral (Khenthari'sRoost), just looking around in the buildings. I'm going to do the same in all of the Daggerfall Covenant major cities eventually(DC is all I've completed so far). Of course, getting the blueprints, and having the mats are two totally different things. I bought Mournoth Keep and it's basically bare. Took me two days just to farm the wood to get enough pitch to make one torch. I'm not going to fall into the microtransaction hole by buying furnishings in the crown store. eff that.

I've found about 6 so far, nothing very spectacular except for an awesome painting that I feel very lucky to have found. I guess it will all come in time, as the market gets slowly flooded and the prices drop buying them will become realistic, and we all build up our own collections. Try robbing houses and visit delves and dungeons with lots of containers to search.

I don't think this is true. I'm almost certain that it isn't.

I have walked up behind someone immediately after they opened a container that always has 3 items and it had 2. The hidden panels will be cocked open if someone has opened them before you....a container that will have a crafting stone (corundum ect) + lockpick every single time will only have the lockpick after someone passes it.

I think they are only instanced in dungeons.

No problem for me with drop rate. I've collected several hundred plans since Homestead dropped. Most come from my thief as she steals her daily quota. If you are spending time looking in containers and not finding them, then perhaps your alt is truly unlucky.
