This is my first experience on an un announced server shutdown, how long do these usually take? Judging by the comments this has been experienced in the past... ps4 EU

No telling. Depends on what is wrong with the server, if anything is wrong.

As Alex said it all depends on whats wrong and how in depth it is.
Don't be put off by it. It will all become apart of your ESO life soon

The last updates has been around 5 hours, exception is homestead on EU who had to be rolled back and tried again.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

It's back up apparently. There's regular scheduled maintenance but unscheduled like this is very rare, thankfully.
