I use him for an emergency heal, not that its really needed in there with a damage shield, but I use it as an emergency heal in other situations too, like trials and pvp, and I don't want to keep respeccing. I'm also quite attached to the ugly thing

Why use that for an emergency heal? Surge plus any attack and frags heal a sorc from near death to full in 1s anyway. Ditch him now and use the little familiar.PC Master Race

Yeah, I might give the familiar a chance I never really use the clanfear for a heal in maelstrom, just for pvp mostly... Sorcerer, Templar, Wolf Collector, Housing Addict!

I was mocked. I was told that it wasn't the wisest of choices, and how I was making VMA much more harder than it was by using a pet build. Funny how things change in such a short period of time, and now pet builds are so popularized and spoken highly of...
But anyway, yes. Pet builds do a wonderful job in VMA. They always have, and they always will. In my opinion, pet builds actually are the strongest builds for PvE (if solo'ing content) and PvP (if solo'ing).0 -

They were heavily buffed last patch that's why people are using them now.1 -
