Question to other NB's about Nightblade skill, Shadow Image

Shadow Image is undoubtedly a good skill. It takes some practice but overall adds a useful dynamic to the class. One thing that has bugged me is the distance of the teleport and waste of the teleport. What do I mean? I'm not saying the teleport range should be extended, that would be OP. But what I am saying is, since there is no real way to know whether you are teetering on the outer edge of the teleport range it's quite easy to go to use the teleport only to waste it as you are a foot outside it's range. Obviously to make this skill more effecient, knowing where this max range is would be great. Maybe change the color of the icon when out of range. This would allow the player to know when they can't teleport to shade, while still allowing the player to place a new shade if desired.

    That's a good idea too. Probably also the easiest fix for the devs as well.

    I think it would be cool if it automatically activated once you got too far away. Or perhaps once you go past the limit the shadow starts to follow you but stays that furthest distance away. I agree that the icon should change colour too, but I could only vote on one option.

    Shadow image is beast when you use it in the right situations, and its hugely underrated too.

    I immediately thought about this when I read that. I believe it would work similar to how other classes like templars deal with it. If you decided to drop a shade up on a wall, then jump down, the circle would extend around that particular wall. You would see the part of the circle on the wall, just not on the ground. Though it presents the similar issue with jumping down and not exactly knowing if you are teleport range, jumping down from walls is still only occasional.

    Having the shade follow you wouldn't be bad though you may run into the same issue as what tryxus was saying. What if you jumped off a keep wall to fight, and expect to teleport back to the wall and suddenly your shade is right where you are and you can't get out of trouble. Since I find this skill is mainly used to get out of trouble, this may cause issues.

    It could be nice if the first morph (the one that summons 2 shades instead of one) had some aggro so the enemies would focus on those shades. Because otherwise this morph is useless. All morphs reduce dmg done by enemies so people always pick the one with teleport ability.

    That would be a nice addition too. Basically like sorc pets.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno What would it take to make both morphs of this skill more efficient? Doesn't seem like it would be a programming nightmare.

    I wish the Shadow was actually an exact copy of your character. Looks tacky in the barbaric armour. Hopefully they change this.

    Make the entire slot a solid color when out of range. Needs to be obvious.

    In addition to the range finding mechanics mentioned above, I'd like to see shadow image changed so that you can cast it without needing an enemy target.

    Now, i'm going to come out of left field with this next one. Perhaps it would be to OP and I'd be fine with them simply fixing the teleport range notification...BUT.

    It would be pretty cool that if you teleport back to the shade you absorb your shade back and are healed for X amount. The longer the shade has been active, the more you heal for.

    The heal would be based on HP%, so either stamina or magicka could use it.

    Boom, there is your NB burst heal that we have wanted for years. In a way, similar to using the sorc clanfear heal for xx% HP.

    I like Tommy_the_guns idea for the other moprh. Since most people use shadow image in PvP, and a heal is needed more so than in PvE, the other morph with two shades could take aggro off you. Similar to how the sorcs clanfear does. I think this would give players a choice between two play styles that would actually fit and not leave the other feeling left out.

    This is ZOS. You need to count your steps to know when you reach the borderline for the teleport! The same with buffs. You need to actually count the seconds to know when you need to refresh them... ;)

    I'd even be happy at this point if some intrepid add on maker could make something to at least work until ZoS does something about it.

    If you've read the entire topic, you'd have read about its usefulness.
    But maybe you're a full PvE player, ignoring PvP. Because yeah, in PvE, I'd immediatly swap it for a cloak.

    I love the skill and it has saved me numerous times and it's fun to annoy enemies.

    I don't have any issues but sometimes the distant is to great. It would be nice the icon changed if you are out of range.

    and it would be even better if I could cast it without targeting an enemy.

    Edit: even in PvE is very usefull against some bosses. Kite them and when they get to close, teleport across the room. Works good in most cases.
