Upon Morrowind's arrival: Current character or new Warden?

When the Morrowind expansion finally arrives, should I first play it with my current character (an Imperial Nightblade) or with a newly-created Warden?

On the one hand, my Imperial Nightblade has been my only TESO character thus far since April 2014 (he'll be hitting Lvl 50 soon), so should he simply continue on the adventure into Morrowind? Besides, if I started a new character there, wouldn't he just go through the same thing all over again once he hits the mainland?

On the other hand, I've always preferred playing as a Male Human Ranger in every fantasy-based game that I've ever played (I had to settle on playing as a Human Warrior in WoW until Humans could finally be Hunters in Cataclysm, after which I've hardly played the Warrior anymore). From what I'd heard, the Warden is the closest TESO has to a Ranger.

So which of the two should I experience the expansion with for the first time? :o

I'll be using my established Main character.

I've been through everything with that Dunmer. It's only fitting that he gets to take the first steps into Vvardenfell.

Well, my main will still be my main!

I played all the stories with my bosmer (mainland, DLC etc), explored the whole map, got most of the achievements etc... I can't just give up on her haha! Plus, NB are just so fun.

I will create a warden of course, who doesn't want to try the so-expected new class! I will first start the new story with my NB and once I create the warden I will re-play the story of Morrowind with him/her. Who knows, maybe I looove wardens and it becomes my new main? Time will tell I guess, in all honesty, they look really fun.

Make a new warden and try it out if it interests you. If not, use your current one. Nothing is stopping you from playing it with both. I would imagine a new character will go through the same story if you bring him to the base game.

I for one am interested in seeing how they do things both as a base game character going to Morrowind and as a Morrowind born character coming to the base game. So I will do both.

Warden? Pfff... A class with PETS ughh... :s

No thanks, I'll play on one of my mains... I probably never touch Wardens unless the pets are demonstrably not needed for Wardens to be playable/effective.

I retired my "old" main (that I started with at launch) when I recently came back, so I imagine I'll keep running with my new "main" through Morrowind.

    I'll be making a warden.

I've had a magicka and stamina or each class for months.

Game was getting stale, a new class is literally what i need.

Mhh. Good question. What does "experiencing" the game mean to you? For myself it's mainly questing.

I will tell you what I will do or what I imagine myself to be doing in almost four months. I am not really sure if that does help you though because we seem to be very different. If you are playing for well over two years only one character and that one character is almost level 50 now - your play style is vastly different from mine and I have no clue what is more important to you, the class or the landscape.

Since we have a whole new intro I will go with a new character and that might as well be the new class :)

Hope it helps for what it's worth.

Also a cliff racer, a haj mota, a bull netch, and fletcher flies. A couple of those might just be visual effects for more traditional skills, but from the description the bull netch is an actual pet, even if the others aren't.

Yeah, that's my point. And even with the cliff racer we don't know if it's just a visual for a spammable attack (although that's likely) or if it's actually considered a pet just like NB shades are.

    To the OP,
    Bananko wrote: »

From your post (I bolded the parts I'm referring to), It sounds you'd enjoy playing a Warden more than your current char, but if I may suggest, I'd say that it would be better to stick with you current char after he reaches L50 at least until you're at CP160.

That's what I'd do myself in your situation. Of course, this assumes that you may be interested in trying end-game activities at some point... if that's not the case, then, just ignore this :)

But of course, since your preferred play-style seem to match the Warden perfectly, if I was you I wouldn't be able to restrain myself and at least I'd want to create a new char to test the class :)

In any case, as long as you're enjoying the game and your character, all the rest doesn't matter!

    Good luck!

That animation will be funny to see when your character is in a cave, dungeon or in a building.

Thank you all for the advice. :)

Starting off the expansion as a Warden would reportedly give him a tutorial session there that wouldn't be available to my current Nightblade, as well as a death scene from Mannimarco upon reaching the mainland (if so, does the expansion serve as a prequel for characters created there?). :open_mouth:

I have no intention of dropping my Nightblade anytime soon, of course, especially since that would leave me with no character to play for the next four months while waiting for Morrowind. ;)

Still, if I start the expansion as a Warden and then play it again with my Nightblade, will it just be repeated content?

Also, are there Imperial Wardens or would it make more sense lore-wise to create a Warden from one of the other Human races?

If it's going to be an hybrid class: no way. I have played hybrids for 10 years, they either suck (Jack of all the trades, master of none and nobody wants it in trials) or become so overpowered (usually in PvP) that they get nerfed to below the ground at the next patch.

There will always be some quest you didn't find the first time, or some quest decision you could try the alternative in your second play-through... or some nook you didn't explored :)

I wouldn't worry too much about repeating content (I've played the MQ, FG, MG and several faction zones on at least 4 chars already! :p)

And I'm curious about how the new tutorial will work too! With some many chars that I still haven't played, that's the only valid justification I could use for myself for creating a new char after the expansion launches

I'll be doing both in parallel - I can never stick to just one char...

If I reach 561 Champion Points before Morrowind drops I'll probably it as a Warden. Otherwise my main will probably be the first to see Vvardenfell.

Pre-ESO:Morrowind, stock up on crowns (hopefully during crown sale), buy Riding lessons (Carry/Speed), Stock Exp potions.

Launch ESO:Morrowind, create Warden, drop Exp buff, grind to 50.

Post ESO:Morrowind, Level 50 Warden, run new content.

Um, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the CP cap isn't 561 anymore. It increased to 600 with Homestead.
