Tel Var Merchants

Now that they've changed the Tel Var merchants and what they sell, can anyone tell me if the Jewellery boxes and RNG boxes scale to your character's level when opened? Or is everything now CP160? The merchants selling individual pieces only sell CP160 gear now whereas before you could get them at lower levels. Given the 100k TV cost of a single piece of jewellery I'd hate to save up for it and find my lowbie won't be able to use it.

I can't even manage to grind out 10k tel var stones, this system blows. Hate it when gear is locked behind pvp content

It honestly takes like less than 10 minutes to make 10k stones lol.

That is if your faction owns imperial city and other faction is allowed

I spent about an hour trudging around through the sewers on my stamblade the other night. 8-24 stones per kill is pretty weak,especially when one mishap running into those stupid patrolling world bosses can cost you half of what you've earned. I managed to kill one player and got 800 stones, putting me at around 3k at that time, then died to a bad elite pull and was down to 1500 again. That's about the time I said frak it and went back to more productive activities.

All I'm after is the black rose set for my future warden tank, but that *** is frustrating

Something like 95% of the drop sets are behind pve content and you can buy the pvp ones from other players for gold.

You're going to have a hard time trying to find someone willing to test that out for you. Most of us aren't interested in spending that kind of tel var so we can smash newbies (even easier) in BWB.

Oh I'm not expecting anyone to test it for me, just wanting to know if anyone has bought any boxes and could therefore answer the question.

Question is why on earth blow 300k TV to kit out a low level toon for 3 gems? Blackrose has only been max level I think anyway, plus most of them are crap for low levels too and only benefit from being fully tonked out.

Its fast to level, dont get endgame gear for a sub 50 level char! Pls:)
btw the level of the char that opens the bag decides what gearlevel the equipment is. It scales.

Black Rose took a nerf during Homestead ... the 4-piece was changed from stam to magicka.

Even with jewelry it does not make the set more palatable, IMO.

@olsborg is correct. Tel var sets are scaled to your character's level ... but the price tag is too expensive for a non-vet character.

You'll have better luck with the new PvP bags which are purple and only 12k AP per piece.

I don't know if this helps, but I spent 60k tv on the purple boxes. I'm cp160 so I don't know if it scales. But with each box costing 3k tv each, I opened 20 boxes. Out of those 20 boxes, I ended up with 3 purple rings and 1 purple neck. The rest of the stuff was weapons and armor. All of it with poor traits (several training and prosperous in fact), except one Defending staff, which I might use. These are all Bind-on-equip items, so you can sell them.

After checking guild stores, though, I have also found those same purple jewelry pieces for anywhere from 5k-20k gold. Really not that expensive, considering that Hakeijo sells for about 10k gold at 5k tv. So in essence, even if each jewelry cost 20k each, I could have bought 3 jewelry pieces for 60k gold and sold 12 Hakeijo for 120k gold, netting me a profit of 60k gold.

Gold jewelry is nice. And I might actually purchase the gold boxes down the road. But probably only two, and end up with two guaranteed gold jewelry pieces. But I'll likely not purchase a third.

tldr: Buy purple jewelry/gear on the market. Save up for 2 gold jewelry boxes if the 5p bonus scales. Buy 3k tel var boxes only if you're hoping to get lucky with a desired trait for weapons.

I'm not sure about the telvar gamble boxes but you can buy Black Rose set pieces (blue) from the common telvar dealer for 1k telvar per piece & they scale to your level (unless you are over CP160). So it's only 5k telvar for a 5pc set. My lvl25 mDK had a set... but he levelled out of it so fast! I had plenty of telvars so I don't regret it

So in answer to the OP, I ASSUME that as there are 2 telvar merchants that sell the gamble boxes, one with be for below CP160 & will scale to the character who opens the box (& be blue quality)... the other will only drop purple CP160 gear.

Don't particularly want it in CP160; don't need anything else atm that the TV merchants sell.

Probably would have to be incredibly lucky to find my lowbies' levels in purple TV jewellery on any trader though.

Well..good news is that gold jewelry boxes only contain jewelry. So chances of getting 2 rings or a ring and neck are high. You could also end up with 2-3 necks only. But just don't know if you can get under cp160. You'd have to go check. Or maybe someone else will chime in here.
