Magicka is better. More usefull skills, more healing skills, more undodgeable skills. Mid range combat style, better AOE... sDK seems pretty weak right now compared to few patches before.

PvE wise? Magicka, It has more overall use. Stam can still put out higher single target dps though, it's just not any good at AOE which is needed in most trials hence the dominance of magic in trials along with shields being so vital.

For pvp It depends on your gear setup and playstyle. Magic DK was suffering badly in open world pvp for ever and as of two days ago finally got a relief from being the worst open world pvp class setup. Stamina shines in this regard. As far as 1v1 dueling it's a guessing game on who's stacking proc sets (stamina) and how the magic dk fights. Burst on a magic dk is hard to time as it requires multiple dots with steady whip pressure amd CC

lol no its not, i played mag on my redguard, it is awesome, just feel like taking it further and chase the meta.
once you have your attack rotations and defensive rotations its pretty easy, with ferocious leap it makes bursting for the kill alot easier.

my mag dark elf dk has always done very well in both pve and pv, it comes down to gear set up that plays a big part, in pve my gear gives me 4006 spell damage and 72% crit and i pump out alot of damage, in pvp my spell damage is 3300 and crit 69% and norm on a 2 hour session have 200 player kills, the only thing about a dk is, you have to learn to play resocure management i have got it down pat so much my mag regen is only 657,

Probably depends on what your using it for but for PvE magika is supremely better than stam with any compass ATM.

I have recently switched to stam dk and Im haaving a lot of fun. I have been a magicka DK since early access. pve tanking primarily but i did a lot of group pvp tanking as well.

Magicka has a lot of utility and survivability. they are great in groups. This questions really needed to have more information behind it like, what do you want to do in game and what skills you like to use etc. there is no clear cut way - dk is just a very good class. i feel as though magicka tanking is far superior than stam tanking, but stam tanking meets more of the meta (largely due to stam based weapon skills, stam based armor skills, and stam based assault skills dictating competitive endgame pvp tank buff meta). but a magicka dk, when done right, in the right amount of tank/dd build is truly a sight to behold.

I dont agree with this statement. at all. from a pvp tank perspective, my role was relegated to spamming talons, fossilize, cinder storm, inhale, chains, burning embers. absolutely made life hell for just about everyone on the opposite team. but was easy, mundane and boring.

Both work well enough imo, but I prefer playing mine as magicka. I wanted a mage character, and between staff abilities and all the fire spells dk has it works well. Only other traditional mage option is sorc, which is a little too dark and demonic.

I guess that depends on what are your preferences.
If you prefer melee weapons then - stamina
If you prefer destro & resto staff weapons - magicka
And for normal PvE the difference is not that big.

It is only relevant in PvP and for some PvE vet trails - probably magicka will be better

Stamina because it's still the best tanking setup, and stam DKs still do respectable damage, despite the nerfs to stam (my Argonian stam DK can do 36.5k solo on a target skeleton, only self buffs; fite me).

Magica is more fun, but stamina feels better.

This applies fo NB too (and as far as I can tell for all classes, but I don't have a high level sorc or temp so I don't have much experience with either)

mDK is cake easy to play. They were OP before this patch, and now they're just completely broken. Embers needs a massive nerf next update, and the snare/root mechanic also needs addressed.

Stam dk has better synergy still with abilities and gearsets. MDK needs more barspaces to do the same. If they optimized dk like a NB they would be the best, but as it is now both are kinda meh zerglings spam roots and dizzy swing lolgg, but mdk is alot better then where it was.

PvE tanks - hybrids in my book (large stamina pool, high magicka recovery)
PvE DDs (12-men trials / group dungeons) - magicka currently, mostly due to massive AoE, can pull similar parses on boss fights
PvE healers - magicka, altho both are kinda meh in this regard.
PvE vMA - stamina is more efficient, since magicka still suffers from lack of sustain, being best in melee range while having crap mobility, magicka is safer but slower (more offensive heals / CCs and shields available)
PvE overland - light attack spam your way to victory with both, naked and unarmed of course

PvP DDs (open world, 1vX / 2vX) - depends on matchup
PvP duels - depends on machup
PvP L2P - depends on matchup
PvP large scale DD - magicka, due to many more AoE / CC options
PvP healers - magicka, Vigor spam ain't enough yet to be called healer I'm afraid

ERP - magicka, 'cause they can spam moar whipz n' chainz
