Whats a good dps score?

With the addition of the target skeleton to the game, console players such as myself now have an estimate of how good/bad our dps is. Just wondering what sort of dps score is considered good. Im doing the test with no active debuffs major fracture, ele drain etc?

Define "good"...
"Good" as in... "requires effort to reach" ?
"Good" as in... "above average" ?
Or "good" as in... "minimum required for vMoL and pulling your own weight" ?
Or "good" as in ... "will let you join end-game competitive guilds for leaderboard scores" ?

Good as in Vmol and trial leaderboard runs

I'm pretty sure he means with the DPS dummy. Us console folks still aren't sure how to use our new tools.

Good for stam is 25k dps, good for magic is 50k dps.. Trials etc need the highest dps they can get, range>>melee range.

But, most importantly just have fun.

Pulling your own weight in VMOL is around 30k. Anyone needing higher is either looking for world record runs or is just stupid.

Is that single target? I can hit 3 mobs for that much but 1 ... wow.

I was curious of this too. More just in general though. For a DPS character what should I be aiming for DPS wise. Ive been using weapon damage as my gage as I'm a melee focused player and I can get close to 5K weapon damage with enchants and potions but I still feel like I'm under performing. Ive been working on my rotation but not totally sure how to gage how well I'm doing. Hopefully this new DPS meter for consoles will help give me some Idea of how good/bad I am at DPS.

Definitely needs clarification between single target and multi-target DPS.

I agree that multi-target DPS is far more important in trials, etc. but when throwing around numbers lets make sure we are talking about the same thing

Im managing to hit 35k single target with no debuffs or buffs against the target dummie. Im assuming the 50k is with raid buffs i dont think its possible to do that sort of damage purely self buffed?

Man am I glad they brought in the dummy, I thought I was doing good DPS but evidentally not haha.

from everything I have seen if you are solo buffed/debuffed you should be somewhere between 25-32K depending on what you are trying to do. the 50K+ numbers you see people throwing around come from fully optimized Trial groups where you are constantly being buffed up and the boss is constantly being debuffed. I could be wrong though. the PC guys can probably give you more accurate numbers

It also depends on who you are playing with.

Pugging vet dungeons averaging between 15-22k on most bosses, i often get told how good the dps is.

But i cant pull enough dps to get invited to the vet trials group of one of the guilds i am in.

So i guess it is sort of subjective.

To get to 5k weapon damage self buffed you'd need to sacrifice too many other stats, from a PvE perspective anyway.

If the skeleton does kill you, your dps is too low.

Granted, it got a bit off topic later on as people started showing off their epeen but it has good answers.

For vet dungeons, 10K is low, 15K is OK, 20K is good.
For DLC dungeons you'll want around 25K.
For trials it's more like 30-35K.

This assumes all dps are doing the same.
If you are doing 15K in a dungeon and the other guys is doing 5K, it's going to be a bit rough.

Can someone tell me a build that get's this kind of damage? It's talked about here in the forums like it's common, but I'm sure not getting anything close to 30K DPS on a single target. I'm sure some of you have "secret" builds, but there must be one basic build that does this that I could just try it and see it with my own eyes? Any class, any build. Oh, and none of that VMA gear either. I don't have any of that stuff.

Heck, share with me a substandard 20K build. Even that would be an improvement for me.

If you post your build and rotation in the combat and mechanics section, you'll get some good advice.

Its not 100 percent based on the build you use its more about how you play it. For example if you dont light attack weave in between each skill your dps will be lower if you dont refresh dots at the correct times you will get lower damage. Its more about getting the timing of abillities right. Basically just keep practising your rotation over and over until you know how to do it blindfolded

The reality is this........
If you're soloing the 3mil target dummy, then your dps is going to be waaaaay off what ppl are saying.

The OPs question everyone is this:

What is good DPS and time based on soloing the 3mil target dummy as X class

I did do a pure test, just wanted to see what the result looked like. 12.5k with no food, no buffs and managing my resources with no pots just hitting at it for 4 minutes.....but the target dummy is a true test of resources and DPS rather than these arbitrary numbers ppl give in groups or VMSA


Ppl what's are score per the game message solo?

The build itself probably makes 20% of it. The rest is rotation and animation canceling. That what makes the most difference. I have a magicka sorc with nearly all BiS gold gear (except for the maelstroem weapon) and I can barely hit 20K self-buffed.

The one thing I have noticed is I'm low on Stam Recovery but I can manage that for the most part. Unbuffed I have about 3k weapon damage but with weapon power pot and my weapon damage enchants procing I get get damn close to 5k.

Speaking of weapon damage enchants is there a maximum that can be reached? For instance am I doing myself a disservice by having weapon damage enchants on all 3 pieces of jewelry and my dual-wield weapons?

Ive always just been a player playing but now that I'm getting towards the end of a lot of content I'm working on improving my build and my ability to do damage, as I'm a DPS build. I know I will be limited by my play style since I want to focus on melee damage but that's my choice!
