Frost staff taunt on heavy is good.

I've gotta say, at first I wasn't sure it was needed, but it has been useful.

I was with a group of guildies doing vet blessed crucible. We basically had 3 dps and a healer, which worked great until the last boss. We kept getting wiped out by the aoe. So (i was on mag sorc) I switched to a frost staff and kept her on one side and it was no problem. I would of had no taunt without it.

This was one example, but I think a frost staff can give a dpser the ability to off tank if needed. Using light attacks unless wanting to taunt while using heavy with another weapon.

I edited the main post to give a little insight to what I'm talking about

But you can keep using your main weapons which do more dps and just use inner fire every couple of rotations for the same result, having to heavy attack to apply a taunt is a bad idea imo, I can see what they were trying to do with some of the ice staff changes but to me they missed their mark.

It is nice someone can make it work. All though this was in a pug pledge and some emergency solution. I still haven't seen it viable in end game like vet trials.

Finally a reason not to play League of Legends

Yeah, you can do that as well, but in certain situations it can be useful. Hek even if you are just doing it to get some magicka back while tanking it will taunt at the same time (obviously you'll have to be smart about when to do this)

Yeah I agree, but I don't think it was meant as a high level main taunt.

Only thing that irks me is you can't rely on it in emergencies. Taunt loss and boss makes a beeline for the healer, emergencies.

I intend to give it a try but I am still leveling my Tankplar. I am still trying to work out what to run on my bars. S&B x2 or S&B and Ice staff alternatively S&B and Resto or Ice staff and resto tank healer.

I think I am still intending to run inner fire though.

When I was farming City of Ash for BSW. I slotted inner fire onto my Dragonmage DPS (it runs sword and board on front bar) to allow me to tank whille we ran 4 Dps through the dungeon. We had two MagDK DPS (since we all want BSW) so I didn't need some of my synergy skills.

I can only see it being somewhat useful in organized groups. But still I think it is utter trash.
In pugs it is an absolute nightmare. I play a tank and I have already seen so many frost staff user stealing boss aggro from me with their heavy attacks. So annoying... Apparently ZOS overestimated people's ability to read patch notes or even tooltips.

Besides, its just bad. Having to charge a full (and slow) heavy attack to be able yo taunt, plus having to drop block to do so. This will never be viable in any hard content.
