Or just a coincidence?

No wonder there are no children in ESO.

Glad you noticed that. Moloch is the demon that politicians and certain rich people worship at Bohemian Grove.

There's far more obscure references to various cultures' mythologies in TES. Stuff I find it hard to believe, really, it's so obscure. Which is why some of the lore threads here on the forums are so wonderful.

And when you teleport to another zone, on that sort of shield of stars that you conjure, if you look at the last second before you travel it says 666!!!

That's true. I've noticed some things in ESO that go far, far, far into tinfoil hat territory that only certain people at the very top of the pyramid would know about, if you know what I mean. I'm just going to leave it at that.

Molag Bal was inspired by the demons Moloch and Baal. The similarities between Molag Bal and Moloch are more striking if you compare the former's pre-Skyrim appearance to that of the latter's.

I'm pretty surprised you jumped to "Molag Bal = Moloch" instead of, you know, "Mauloch = Moloch."

Moloch is a too well-known figure for it to be a coincidence. You can find much more obscure references in TES; I don't know the background of other writers, but Michael Kirkbride, one of the main authors of lore, studied comparative religion in college and it shows. :P

Lot's of lore in TES is taken from myths and cultures we have, which is part of its charme I think. Molag Bal being inspired by Moloch and Baal wouldn't be surprising. Also, Molag Bal means "Fire Stone" in Daedric.

Makes me wonder if they got the idea for Sithis and the Dark Brotherhood from somewhere. Welp.... I'm glad I learned to sleep with one eye open.
