Lost my group again.

Ok so a little gripe ive had since day one.
all i want is to be able to place markers or icons on my compass for my group mates without having to check my map all the time to find them.
The leader gets a crown but if im lead then i keep losing track of my group.it makes pointing out materials and such to my team a hassle.
It seems like this would be a natural addition to a multiplayer game is markers for our team.
Anyone else have this problem?
