XBox 4K mode doesn't always show AOE rings

While playing fungal grotto 1 the last boss does an attack where the AoE grows out from underneath her, then explodes. When running on my xbox (I tried 2 different characters) the red aoe indicators never showed up. I was grouped with my wife who has a tv right next to mine (non-4K) and they were always showing up for her, but never on my screen. I suspect this has to do with the 4K screen/setting.
Similar problems have happened in other dungeons, but I thought they may have been unique occurrences. However, yesterday with multiple runs on multiple characters it was 100% reproducible.
