ESO Gold Edition question

Hi everyone , can anyone tell me if it is possible to redeem ESO Gold Edition digital/physical copy to already existing base ESO account (non Steam one ) , want to buy one for my friends birthday so we can play all the DLC content together . If anyone can share some info on this i'd appreciate it tnx !

Yes, if you're buying the Gold edition from Steam, you can link it to an existing non-Steam account. I did that exact same thing when Steam had the Gold edition on sale recently. Instructions here:

Yes, if you're buying the Gold edition from Steam, you can link it to an existing non-Steam account. I did that exact same thing when Steam had the Gold edition on sale recently. Instructions here:

After that is Steam needed to play the game or can the normal launcher still be used ?

It's suggested for PC not to buy it and instead buy the crown bundle non-steam

I'm not positive on that, but I believe you can bypass the Steam launcher and launch it directly. You have to go into the game folder and create a shortcut to the game exe file. But you lose the cool Steam auto-login feature if you do that. If you don't use the Steam launcher, you have to login manually.
