Morrowind had better be amazing ... cos housing is garbage

I've played this game since beta and it's been really rewarding. I've met heaps of great people and am an officer in a great guild that rewards me with friendship, fun times and achievements.

But this housing update makes me feel like I am being used.

Writs were never much fun in the first place, you only ever did them to get stuff.

But this whole Master Writ overlay is so badly implemented that I keep on squaring up at the crease (I'm an Aussie so Yanks can google the meaning of that if they care) ... only to get some [snip] underarm bowling at me.

I have four max level crafters with heaps of motifs etc doing all writs every day since the update ... 17 vouchers total.

That's just b*llshit. there is no sense of reward for effort. No sense that you can work towards something.

It's just a lottery where some random with a toon straight out of Coldharbour can collect an unexpected payout, while people who have put in the time and effort over years get nothing.

The astroturfers will say "RNG is RNG" ... I say it's broken.

I'm prepared to stick it out until Morrowind. But if you underdeliver again ZOS, I've got better things to do with my time (and my sub money).

I love housing. My wife and I have spent more time decorating and recipe hunting than any other activity in the game since Homestead went live. That will surely change eventually. For now we are definitely enjoying this content though.

How I expect Morrowind to play out:

Writing will be good because one of the things ZOS has going for it is it's writing team.

VVardenfell will likely be visually stunning, because the art team is equally as tallented.

The Warden class, from what we've seen, will likely invalidate Templar as healer, cause alot of people to reroll and may in fact make Templar obsolete.

The overland content will likely be easy and fine for what it is and will continue to infuriate the people who want everyone to suffer for their own vindictive need to be better than others.

The raid will likely either be Ultrahard and please raiders, or be moderate and spur on raiders to call for a increase in overland difficulty to compensate.

That's all I really see happening. More push for elitism in the endgame scene and everyone else will come, play, talk about how good it was, leave. Nothings gonna change exept endgame basicly pushing out everyone who dislikes it nowadays and becoming more of a ***.

PS: Homestead was a cash grab and a goldsink. We knew it was going to be. The second I heard housing would be buyable with crowns we knew it was going to be, no matter how much people held out hope. To think otherwise was nieve.

True enough. As is writing off an entire update on the basis of the RNG balance in a single system! All the rage these days ;)

RNG had been terrible and we don't need homestead to prove it but that also means homestead isn't what is broken.

Looking forward to it on consoles so maybe I can move more materials in the trade guilds, all these BOP items make it hard to sell anything.

OP I agree with your point on how the master writs are working. I have 2 master crafters, and doing the writs daily. I have yet to get a single master writ. But I saw how they are working on the PTS and I say Ill pass. The task to make a gold whatever from said set is just silly. AND then when you turn it in you get what 5 little vouchers??? Nah thanks but no thanks. The system is lame and its a gold sink. Ill happily make do with finding green and blue patterns and make stuff from that. Or sell it.
I feel Morrowind will be pretty good. But this whole game in general is just "pretty good". Im not gonna say this game has anything Epic. Sorry but it just doesnt. I like playing this game and enjoy the hell out of the Elder Scrolls franchise, but epic? No.

I personally have enjoyed the update - but that's probably because I haven't touched the writs.

Every bit of RNG crud they give us is just disappointment to a nearly guaranteed percentage of players. Can they come up with a better system already?

You're aware that the Writs were updated based on player feedback right? Not all the writs require Legendary materials now and the vouchers scale on the value of the materials used.

Yes material drops are too low, now its 5% or less chance for house mat in node. harvested over 200 ancestor silk, got 5 bast.
if node had 25% chance for mats it would be better, you would still need temper and the other stuff.

I love housing but, honestly, the Master Writ system sounds awful. :s My sister dove into this system wholeheartedly when it launched, and still has very little to show for it. I'm honestly a bit glad I don't really care enough to put that much work into getting crafting stations or test skeletons.

And expectations are so high with Morrowind, I really doubt ZOS can do anything but underdeliver. The nostalgia goggles are strong with that one.

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Lol when did this game stop being a 'beta' :) On a more serious note I expected housing to be underwhelming as really no new content was coming out with it and this game still has no new class skills along with weapon skills (non ultimates). I really want new skills for each class and their respective subclass for more variety and for a fresh breath this game certainly needs.

I've made this same comment in other thread(s); it has been my general opinion that in many cases the problem is player's expecting a fully furnished fortress or palace within a week if not a few hours. I'm honestly tired of listening to these complaints. If you are not interested in the Housing system: get over it; it is not in any way possible to completely satisfy every single player with new content. Many of us are happy with the new housing system; if anything I for one want more extending the functionality of the housing system to include storage and things like weapon and armor racks.

I agree with the op. To me all i see with morrowind is grinding for gear and rng for motifs/ writs. The Warden class is nothing special but its new so the hype is high. I fear the direction of the game is for more rng grinding and if you don't want to grind you can buy it in the cash shop. The community is getting worse as the game grows more popular. Just look at group content. Its controlled by elitist morons the will kick you if you don't play their way. Heck now they will kick you if your not the race they feel you should be for the class. Heck i never even heard of that one before. The only reason i still play is because i can still play the game like a single player tes game. Once they take that away the player base will decrease. And housing is a wake up call in how this game will be from now on. Its the worse housing system i've ever seen and i've been playing mmo's since 2000. As far as Morrowind goes it will be nothing like the Morrowind game. No slit strider transport and no ash storms. The land is supposed to be a harsh and rugged place to be. The storms gave it character. So instead when you walk up the stairs in Balmora where the strider was you will find a wayshrine and it will always be sunny.

You're doing it all wrong, you need to be more side-on then you can play forward or back more easily and play the grounder off your feet without being trapped LBW the whole time.

I'll leave you to work out how that translates into the Master Writ issue, as you raised the cricket metaphor in the first place  !
