Blueprint drops based on location?

Does a piece of argonian furniture have a higher drop rate in Shadowfen? What is the best way to get blueprints? I've looted everything I can get my filthy hands on. I have found 3 in a week... Maybe 3.... -_-

Devs said yes, but I haven't got enough blueprints to confirm that. And I don't know if dlc areas and Coldharbour are affected.

The way I understand it yes, the styes associated with a region have a higher chance of dropping said style blueprints. Stealing seems to be a good way to get drops, pickpocket twice and kill for the third.

I do tend to get more Orc related stuff in Wrothgar. It seems like the items are more race specific in some zones.

Now the question is, is the 3 base races for that alliance in those alliance zones, or is the base race for that zone? The first seems to be the most balanced way, RNG aside.

That leads to another question, are there Imperial plans?

After a couple of days of farming I can confirm this. Spend much of my time in Glenumbra, Alik'r Desert and Orsinium and got racial motifs depending on the region.
If you want me to reply to your comment type @Ankael07 in it.

I Agree about your DLC comment. I exclusively steal from cabinets in Gold Coast and so far gotten furniture motifs in the style of High Elf, Breton, Orc, Redguard, Khajit, Nord, and Dunmer off the top of my head.

Thank you both for responding. That's what I've heard as well, but it doesn't seem to feel that way. I see some argonian furniture just lying around in delves. I wish I could just pick it up and bring it back to Stay-Moist Mansion. Would be to easy though

I would say being in a certain location would increase percentage yield of the appropriate race.

When I was in a Breton town looting I got ALOT of Breton diagrams however I did also get an Orc diagram however at a much lower percentage.

I decided to then go to Betnikh an orc city and began looting and my first item looted was an Orc diagram. I didn't spend much time in Betnikh so it might've been a coincidence. But that's just my observation.

There is no Imperial plans (at leas for now).

So Wrothgar would give more Orc blueprints, but are dungeon (especially public dungeons) take that in account ? After a lot of old Orsinium farm, I have a lot of Orc motif, but also a lot of Nord one.

And since Gold Coast is an Imperial area, it should give all blueprints, as Coldharbour. Seem good with my experience.

Well, time to do some localized farm :)

Devs said yes. You CAN find the other racial styles for sure, but you will find more or the racial style(s) that matches the zone. It was ZOS_MandiParker that commented on it.

So folks... I fancy owning a redguard couch. Where do you reckon I go?

While the devs have said yes, I have found it not to be true.

I get the exact same blueprints in auridon that I get in Wrothgar, across all characters. It seems that Orc stuff drops the most for me no matter where I am searching for them.
Far too many characters to list any more.

I will second this request, and add on another for good places for Khajiiti furniture. Maybe something less heavily guarded than the bank in Vulkel Guard for Altmer too since I'm asking... >.>

It was mentioned several times that Imperial furniture is Crown Store exclusive. There are no blueprints for it. (And to be honest - Imperial stuff is just a reskin of breton furniture, so why would you even want it?)

I've been looking for Redguard furniture and farming pretty exclusively in Hew's Bane, Alik'r, Stros M'kai and Bankorai and I've go about 1/3 Redguard recipes and the other 2/3 spread between the other races. So yes (for me) it is worth while farming the specific racial zone you're after. (And it's also worth keeping all the green/blue/purple stolen treasures and selling them to the Thieves Guild, and laundering the racial style stones).

I loot every trunk, wardrobe, desk, nightstand, backpack and basket in every house in as many towns as possible (though I've also had a Redguard recipe drop from a Redguard pirate in Stros M'kai as well) and then run to not-the-closest-wayshrine in order to farm at least SOME mats as well. This method has got me at least 30+ recipes, with more coming from guild stores (financed by the Thieves Guild).

I must the only person not experiencing this. (At least I don't think I am. ... Maybe I'm wrong.)

I seem to be just getting random stuff. I've spent a LOT of time in Redguard areas, and have maybe 1 Redguard blueprint to show for it (that I got there) and somewhere around 15 of other races. I've spent time in Orsinium, and get more non-Orc stuff than Orc stuff. (But was getting a lot of Orc things in Skyrim, weirdly).

I was hoping to get a blueprint for Redguard beds, dressers, desks and chairs. I've gotten one desk and one chair, and the chair was found in Stormhaven. LOL. :p

I should start writing down what things I get from what area. Maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention. Seriously, I should start tallying it up.

That's.. odd. I've been spending most of my time is Auridon and most of my plans are high elf. Wood elf is a bit higher than the rest too.
    @Icy Thank you!

Another thank you from me! @WhiteCoatSyndrome I've been robbing the bank and fighter guild blind every chance I have. Plus I took a mule and started questing there so hit up all the quests towns etc. I have been heavily after Altmer too, and I'd say half of my plans are altmer. The other half is split among other races with a bit more wood elf than the rest.

In EP locations I've got Nord/Dunmer/Argonian blueprints more often than others. It's like 3-4 EP blueprints and 1 High Elf/Khajiit/etc.
But also I never farm blueprints in Shadowfen. I search for them in Stonefalls, Deshaan and Riften only, and there I've got a lot of Argonian stuff. So, it seems like a random or it may depend on alliance location, but not race location.

I can neither confirm nor deny this OP, just because I have so many alts parked in banks I log on and off when I need something or just to get the daily mails on some and when I am on them I just quickly loot the containers and then after a few days I launder.

So I have so many different sets I didn't check where I got what.

I assume it's true because the majority of my blueprints are probably Breton, however I have found plenty of Khajiit and Redguard stuff in Stormhaven too so perhaps it's just a % multiplier and not really a definitive factor?

Mine seem to be completely random.

On a related note are you guys getting an even distribution of recipes across all types of crafting? I have a severe lack of formulae, the alchemy furnishing recipes. I only have 2, a dark elf lantern and a wine bottle, which seems really odd considering I have quite a few of the others. If I had to order them from most recipes to least it would be woodworking-clothing-provisioning-blacksmithing-enchanting-alchemy.

When i was farming in Reapers i came to expect my drops to be khajiiti half the time, and the other times mixed between the other races and the non race specific stuff, so it seems to be working for me.

I've found ALLOT of plans now and even though some places such as banks and things in some towns pretty much always seem to drop plans associated with races from whichever alliance it happens to be in, and delves/public dungeons seem to also favour the races from the alliance they are in, allot of the time the plan will also be of a different race.

I found pretty much all Altmer and Khajiit stuff in Auridon, but I did also find a purple Argonian bark plan in a bank in Auridon, and both of my Redguard tapestries are from the public dungeon in Eastmarch too, so although its probably better to farm in the areas associated with the racial style you want, you can also find other racial styles in those areas too, and for me, those other random racial styles have mostly been blue/purple, not sure if thats just coincidence or not...

In group dungeons and in Coldharbour it so far seems to be completely random, no matter where the group dungeon is, from my observations at least

@Osteos I noticed that too, but then I looked at the Furnishing Recipe List... and 75% of the alchemy recipes are Epic (purple) level or higher. So I expect that's why.

I've been farming recipes since a couple days after the patch dropped, and I can definitely confirm this.

I first started farming in the auridon bank, and the majority of recipes I got were High Elf. I wanted redguard stuff; so, I hit up sentinel and definitely got the majority of my furnishing plans as the redguard style. I moved to Evermore castle, and I found redguard / breton / orc. I do occasionally get the random race like - argonian, wood elf, and nord, but usually I tend to get most of the race specific stuff in that race specific zone.

Quick note, I dunno if it's tied to crafting level or character level, but I found WAY more purples and racial furniture plans on my cp200+ toon with crafters all around 40 or maxed. On my level 48 alt with no skills in crafting I only got white and generic green recipes, very seldom were they ever racial specific furnishings.

If you're looking for Khajiit Furniture plans, then you might want to try this out:

Step 1.) Travel to Rawl'kha in Reapers March.

Step 2.) Enter The Waxing Crescent Inn.

    Step 3.) Head upstairs.

Step 4.) Use your Blade of Woe and murder the two NPCs that you find there. It's preemptive, because snitches get stitches. If you don't have the Blade of Woe, then head to Gold Coast and acquire this ASAP.

Step 5.) Poke around through all of the containers on the 2nd floor and steal anything that is green or higher quality. Sell all green, blue, and the occasional purple treasure to the Fence located in the nearby Outlaws Refuge. Launder any Furniture Recipes, Food Recipes, and Style Motifs that you find, and use or sell them in Zone Chat or on ESOBay.

    Step 6.) Profit!

I've pulled quite a few Blue & Purple Khajiit Recipes from this location.
