I know myself, has been debating on switching to the pc version of ESO however what is stopping me is my account; I have every mount in the game my tank( my main) is 100% geared out in end game gear and I have 700+ cp

If they added an account transfer like they did with pc to console at the start of the game would you transfer to it?

And for those of you who have made the switch leaving everything behind how hard was it to know you spent so much money on the game on one system just to have to start over with nothing?

I have been debating this for weeks if I want to switch or not but I literally have everything in the crown store, 11 max characters all with max mounts and a max crafter. All monster sets ect I've been playing since console release.

im considering switching to computer because I use to be a hardcore computer gamer; from WoW to Counter Strike. Made the switch to an Xbox after my brother switched to an Xbox. At one point I was playing ESO on the PS4 as well for a short time. I miss the gaming features a computer gives so my only hesitation at this moment is all the hours and money and time I have spent on my Xbox account just to say goodbye to it and start over from scratch.

What are your opinions? And do you think ZoS will ever make transferring a thing again?

I am playing ESO on consoles since summer '15 were they made this possible (at first on PS4, now XOne).

I always think about going back to PC but if I try I can't stay there. ESO is a console game for me. I enjoy it much more playing with a controller and having it on my 55“ TV than on my computer.

Let me ask you this: what are you missing on the console version? Mouse and keyboard? Or add-ons?

As I said, I thought about it and maybe if there would be transfers I would think about it but if you have everything on console switching to PC isn't worth it. What do you think is better on PC that justifies leaving everything behind?

I am totally for ZOS adding a transfer option (for something like $20-30) but do you think it'll be worth it?

I've had the exact same thoughts as the OP. What I have amassed on my account is what prevents me from doing it. If things worked properly, I wouldn't even consider the switch to pc. Like you, it's much more enjoyable sitting on my couch with a big screen. The issue for me is simple, and daunting, lag. I have a fast connection and it doesn't matter, let more than 15 people be in the same area in PVP and FPS goes to crap, health bars desync, etc. What worries me more, is there has been no serious attempt to address this in a long time. (I still remember the day they killed hundreds of deer in PVP  ). So it is what it is for now I guess, but I understand the desire to switch.

My reasons for not going, is the difference hardware / spec makes in the experience - a real frustration.

And it's battle of the AddOns.

    And the macros / hacking.

I came to Xbox from PC.

PC is not the raw experience that ESO is on the Xbox, where as add-ons and players can ruin your PC experience. I feel like PC is the watered down/handicapped version of the game.

Yeah that's my issue I have everything possible in the game that I feel switching will leave me at a loss especially since I have so much.

    Honestly, the lag in the game is outrageous, the disconnects is horrible l. I'm he only one on my internet and I have the fastest possible. I have no issues with other games only in ESO, also the add one, the keyboard mouse. I don't sit on my sofa playing ESO I sit in a chair in my gaming room; I play on a 40" tv but size of tv has never been an issue or screen for that matter;

I think my main issue with consoles is that the issues have been there for a long time but they never do anything to fix it and that is my main focus to switch over to the computer version of the game.

But I'd lose everything, if they added an account transfer feature I would do it in a heart beat no matter the cost

    I appreciate all the insights i have no issues with the console version minus lag ect. The fact that there are no add ons, isn't a huge deal to me if ZoS was to fix these minor issues consoles have then I wouldn't debate this at all;

I play this game daily and raid daily I am pretty dedicated to the game at this point lol and with all the actual non I've spent on it I wouldn't spot playing it for awhile. Does anyone play on both systems? What's the major difference in the time right now? That you notice when you switch back and forth

The lag is as bad on consoles as it is on PC...

The major difference? Graphics, add-ons / UI, controls. That's it. Playerbase is very healthy on consoles as is everything else.

If you can live with the static and horrible UI we have on consoles there is - in my opinion - no reason to switch to PC. The constant lag is a major issue on every system and server. PC, PS4, One, NA, EU - everything the same issues. ZOS isn't willing to fix this on any platform.

I received a one time account copy, no one has ever received any "transfers" but going back to PC is very hard because I don't enjoy sitting at a PC all day during work and then going home to do the same. Even with a couch, controller and HDMI to TV set up, it requires a keyboard to communicate whereas Xbox has a ton more social systems, event scheduling, LFG systems, etc.
I have been debating this for weeks if I want to switch or not but I literally have everything in the crown store, 11 max characters all with max mounts and a max crafter. All monster sets ect I've been playing since console release.

It was clarified a bit after PC launch that anyone who purchased the PC version, they would later have the opportunity to move over and keep their progress but after this service, it was clarified over and over that it was a one time offer.

I would not expect or think that it will come again.
If anything at all, there may be opportunities to only move your character(s) but the crown items and DLC would not come because even when it was offered, it had server limitations and was a full account copy.

What i would ask for, and this is more likely as ESO now appears in the Xbox app on PC as a game.
Ask that they offer a Win10 ESO sku that syncs xbox one and Win10 ESO versions (but that requires a whole different server option first)

In terms of a transfer, I left and never looked back.
I played many games on PC for years and had at the time a very nice gaming laptop.

If it bothers you that much, buy the base game and see how much it bothers you.
    In terms of crown items.....
Its a game so at some point you're going to stop playing indefinitely, don't let that hold you back from enjoying entertainment today.

I'm not trying to be negative here by tagging ZOS people, but please take a look at this forum post above and understand the background here. It's so bad, players are trying to find a way out of the console version. There is seldom if any communication from ZOS regarding the console updates, and to be honest we haven't seen any improvement in server performance, it seems to have only degraded with time. It may be smart to start updating your console player base on what, if anything, is being done to improve or fix the horrendous bugs/disconnects/lag we experience daily.

I had over 3500 hours on Xbox. I left for pc. Console is not as clean as people think. Even there people use macros. Exploits still happen. Etc. Often there is a much more immature community associated with the pvp on xbox in my opinion, so the overall experience was much better in that regard on pc. However I came from xbox EU which was basically dead. Competitive pvp on that server degraded pretty bad as more and more people left. Ended up where about half my guild left for the NA server and me and a few other friends ended up on pc. I now have 28 days 23 hours played on pc and don't regret it.
Also I spent about £150-180 on xbox crown store before leaving if that's relevant too.
    Hope this helps :)

No, I would start from level 1. There are several reasons why I'd do this:

    1) It gives me the chance to learn how to play again with K&M. I haven't played PC games in over 10 years, and I'm betting my skills at handling K&M are a bit rusty.

    2) I want to experience using add-ons through my character development, not feel tacked on and hope for the best.

    3) I've been wanting to sub to ESO for a long, long time. ZoS deserves it, frankly, because I got far more value for the initial $60 + a few Crown store purchases. The only reason I don't sub on XB1 is because I will never, ever allow Microsoft to have access to my credit card and ZoS foolishly doesn't allow payment through the Microsoft store.

    4) I want to try new things, and it'll be easier from a fresh start than an experienced one.

    5) Finally, and the best reason: this game is just fun to play, even if I have to replay every quest. I enjoy taking my time to level up my character. I still listen to every dialogue an NPC offers despite knowing what they're going to say. This game is like a slow cooker for me: a bit raw at the beginning, but the overall outcome makes every second worth it.

I could add the other benefit of knowing that, at any time, I can easily swap between characters and platforms, and enjoy both equally, playing with friends on both sides.

Granted, these are my reasons, but since you asked, I shared. Maybe they'll help you make your final decision. :)

PS: I should point out money is not an issue with me. Regardless how much I've spent so far, and may be spending again by changing platforms, I take comfort knowing it's going to support a game I enjoy. Much of my cost will be reduced by subbing, as paying for DLC individually was my only way to support the game while protecting my credit card.

Mods are what make PC games great. ESO has no mods(obviously, mmo) So no, I wouldn't switch, the add on's would be nice but from what I read, sometimes they cause more grief than bugs, technical wise.

Go ahead, leave everything from your Xbox account and go do it all over on PC. ZOs loves when people buy the game and cosmetics on multiple accounts.

I won't bring my negativity here about ESO but when I loved the game, console was my choice. Pc has its upsides but I'm used to... or was used to xbox since I've had my Xbox account for 11 years now.

I've played the game too much on Console now, I'm way too used to the feel and layout of a Controller. I mean there are ways of connecting your Controller to the PC so I could still play that way, which would fix my number one issue with switching over.

If I had a sure way of playing PC ESO with my Xbox controller, and ZOS offered a complete account transfer so I didn't lose anything, then, I'm pretty sure I'd switch over.

I mean I do already own a copy of the game on Steam. Bought it when it was for like, $5 once.

The PC version has a Gamepad mode that works seamlessly with my Xbox controller. It's no different than playing ESO on an Xbox, and I still sit on my couch and prop my feet up when I play. The only difference is I have the advantage of addons.

I love my 50+ inch TV (soon to be bigger & 4k), the lazyboy and mini fridge full of beer. I don't think I would be transferring to PC if they offered it as long as the console server still has a viable playing population .....

I like all of your different answers, i don't think the money is my main issue it's losing all the mounts that are special additions, that are no longer available. I do think if they every offer the account transfer I'd do it in a heartbeat. I've actually talked to people who play on the pc and they say the lag is no where near as bad as it is on the console systems; but for now I will stay on Xbox as my guild would definitely fall apart if I left lol actually I know a lot of them who'd transfer with me. I appreciate all of your guys different looks at this subject. . Either way I may still buy it on the pc and role through it slowly while playing on xbox
