Startup Crash

I'm not able to start up the game at all, I get a black screen and then a crash report (sometimes I do hear music starting / see the cursor).
My specs are: GTX 1060 6GB OC, i5 6600k 3.5GHz quad, 8GB DDR4, Windows 10
I have already verified files on steam (which caused it to download 60GB, not sure why) whilst doing that it had a corruption error for the files, but did install, and I had to repair the files when installing from launcher.

i am still getting this issue as well ... have updated my windows and have noting left to update. done a re-install and repair several times now.
updated both flash player and divX
ran program as admin
am starting to run out of ideas... was really hoping the more recent patch would have sorted the problem out.
i was able to play the game a week before the homestead patch came out but not since.
hope this gets sorted soon...

This started to happen to me today. I do not use steam though. Game ran fine yesterday, and the weeks before. Can't start the game today. I've run the repair 3 times and every time it does a download... no idea what to do.

Good luck, I've had this problem since the first week of January and still not fixed, support tried to help but failed. So they just set your ticket to "Solved" status every time we respond. Hundreds of these threads on the same crash since 2015 and no one can identify why it happens to a lot of players every time they update the game.

okay what you do to fix this problem is update your graphic drivers or downgrade them.
my brother had intel 4000 graphic drivers 2016 updated. so i downgraded it to 2015 intel 4000 graphic driver and it worked
to downgrade you gotta unistall the graphic driver you have on your computer then restart it.atfer that you log in open browser
and search for your graphic driver site like AMD,Intel,Nvidia and install an old drivers make sure it's for your laptop though.

you can get to your graphic drivers in control panal and search device manager and go to display adapters you should see it there

try the unistall steps if your updated driver not working hope that helps some people.

I've got the same problem. After dealing with launcher issues, unable to download because of reliable source serving corrupt data, error 1002, etc, now my game simply crashes when i start it up. Really love how optimized and reliable the game is. I've had these issues since the beginning of the month and I NEVER get an answer for anything. The response is always "repair your game". Thanks Zenimax. It never crossed my mind to do that. Never. REally. Maybe fix your game?
