Build diversity suggestions

The thread about bows really started to bother me because the op was very right. Bows are NOT viable and while they are fun, they are still held back in comparison to the one an true stamina weapon: Dual wield. Doesnt it get tiring seeing every stamina dps using dual wield?

Why dont we jus make suggstions and create constructive dialogue about what we would like to see instead of blatant complaint threads. So, that is what this thread will be about.P.S., if the wand and rune rumour is correct, kudos to ZoS for increasing magicka build diversity.

I will start with bows, since that is one of the more obvious weapons that need help. Personally, I feel that bows do not have an "identity" like DW does with its' AoE.I would suggest giving it a more poison focus on an instant spam attack that seems to be missing from the tree.

For example: Quick shot
Instant cast
Cost x stamina

Fires an instant attack dealing y physical damage.

*your basic boring spam attack before morphs*

Morph 1: Snipe
1.1 cast time
Cost x stamina

Carefully shoots an arrow at targets vital areas for X physical damage. The shot does Y% more damage and also has increased bonus critical chance by up to Z% based on distance.

*I kept snipe as a pvp alternative to the next morph that is focused on burst damage but at a cost*

Morph 2: Envenom shot
Instant cast time
Cost x stamina

Masterfully shoots an arrow bathed in *place animal* blood that deals X disease damage. In addition, the arrow also causes all poison effects to envenom causing all poison damage over time effects to deal Y% of their total damage instantly.

*This could remedy the fact that bows do not have a spammable while also giving them a niche that is different and actually adds something to the combat ssystem we have now*

I would prefer to see scatter shot as the bow spammable. There is a lot of change needed on this tree.

My biggest suggestion is on two handed : a great pvp weapon, with poor pve possibilities and some aoe potential. The three stamina problems in pve are aoe, distance and utility. DW can give great single target dps, so bow have to give the ranged part and 2H the aoe part.

First change : forceful. Make it apply 100% of his damage in splash damage instead of 25%, as the lightning staff does. This thing only will give a good aoe potential for stamina players, without hitting pvp too much.

Second change : uppercut. Make it instant while reducing damage and cost by 68%, the damage will be slightly less than surprise attack without the extra effect. Don't change dizzying swing. You can also apply the change only on wrecking blow morph.

Third change : cleave. Actually, this skill does 87% of twin slash's damage, while being aoe ; that's good. The only problem is the range, which is too small. Cleave need a better range or/and a circular one. Both morphs are good, especially carve who give a nice bonus dps with minor heroism.

Fourth change : reverse slice. Executioner is already good in pvp, and reverse slice is not that bad since the splash damage percentage change. Though, it can be upgraded even more to give pve execute on trash a great boost.

Fifth change : set slot. The main advantage of dual wield for templars/NB (sorc and Dk need rapid strike actually) is the 12th extra set slot who give them the ability to wear two 5cp and two monsters, or one 5cp, one 3cp, two maelstrom and two monsters. 2 handed need to either count as two set pieces, or be more interesting than two maelstrom or two mosnters.
With critical nerf on proc set having two 5cp set and one kragh (for example) may be powerful, but it's not enough.

With these changes, two handed will give stamina players a strong aoe weapons. Heavy attack will does good to awesome damage especially with the follow-up passive, cleave add a good dot, and reverse slash morphed to reverse slice give a great aoe execute. This would solve one of the stamina issue in pve.

Next one : bow, which lack of spammable and good aoe. And then, sets as good as burning spellweave (both great damage boost + group utility).

I've seen a 38k parse for a bow bow build for U12 unbuffed bloodspawn. That's not underperforming

The only reason people are skepticle of bow builds is because noobs run them, but newsflash: noobs run everything.

"Spamming snipe" is not going to get you DPS, but when you add poison injection, lightweight trap, endless hail, and a class ability (power of the light, Relentless Focus, bound armaments, or molten armaments (25% damage increase instead of 20, plus stam back from the safety of range) can net you really good numbers. Clear HM vet Maw numbers? Maybe, if stamina had shields like magic did. But the takeaway is that-

To call bow DPS underperforming means that one must ignore that not all content is hard mode trials, or an ignorance of how to use a bow effectively.

On a side note, storcs or stamiknights are the best bow builds, imho.

Bow is underwelming because without perfect master/maelstrom bow, your dps will be far lower. It's even worse than dual maelstrom dagger…
But still, bow need a little upgrade. Not a offbar one, of course. In my opinion, scatter shot need to deal more damage (without the control, it would be broken) in order to make it a proper mid-distance spammable, arrow spray need more aoe potential (larger cone ?), long shot should work depending of the ability used (actually, it give nearly 12% to snipe/poisonned arrow/volley, but only 6% for arrow spray and 4% to scatter shot) and the survivability should be increased.
