So yeah. I've received two writs now I can't complete -- not because I can't make the item, or have the motif, but because I have no access to the crafting station due to no ESO+ or DLC.

Was this intended?

They shouldn't ignore DLC content just because not everyone has it. If you can't make the requested item and don't want to buy access to do so then simply sell the matter writ as they are tradable.

Any of the motifs that are found in game and set bonus crafting stations can end up being used for the master writ. This does include the DLC crafting stations.

If you do not have the DLC for the specific crafting station or the motif you can sell the master writ. For now I would suggest selling it in zone vs guild trader.

The dice role on the RNG does not look at what motifs you have or the crafting stations you have access to either by DLC or by researched traits.

Edit: I have only received one Master Writ requiring a DLC so far. Also, the chance of getting a master writ depends on your knowledge of that specific craft. Traits researched, motifs known (not including basic blue or crown store exclusive), purple and gold recipes and so on.

Attunable Crafting stations in players' homes are very popular ... do a little searching and you could probably find a DLC 5-piece station by just adding a new friend.

Really? So after you've already accepted the quest you can get rid of it? That's possible?

I was hoping the system would filter out what you have access to, since isn't that supposed to be how the group finder works?

No, when the quest pops up, you can decline out, and then trade or sell the item. If you accepted the writ without checking the requirements, then it's too late.

They are called master for a reason. Sell it if your not a true master
