Why can't we lock consumables?

Ever since ESO added the ability to lock items so you cannot deconstruct/sell/etc. them, I got rid of any locking addons and used the vanilla feature. I love the locking feature even though it's simple.

I thought this before, but now with learning all these new plans for furniture, I find it really bothering me that we can't lock consumables. I'm sure I'm not the first person that learned a recipe/motif on a character they didn't want to. I recently had an imperial motif floating around for awhile, and was always paranoid around it because a few characters do not know it yet, but their crafting is levelled enough that I could have learned it had I used it.

So, why can't we lock consumables? Lock them so there is no ability to accidentally use them on a character I didn't want to? I'd really love this feature!

Never tried it until reading this.

Seems logical that it would apply to any inventory item.

That would be nice for those times when you're just grinding for loot to sell. Wouldn't have to worry about accidentally merching tripots or something when you spam the sell button on the different tabs.

Ah yes! I hide my tri-pots in the bank so they don't get taken for writs normally, but that is a good call. I currently use the "Crafted Potions" addon that simply makes crafted potions colored (tripots are purple). @LadyLavina At least it helps them stick out.

Though you also reminded me, this could possibly help the "OH no I sold my stolen design plan"! That one you can't even buyback.

It would be great! Even though I've never accidentally used a motif on the wrong character or so, I always feel really paranoid like I'm suddenly gonna eat all the recipies.

    This is a great idea.

The fourth of my characters knows an odd mishmash of motifs from weird mistakes I've made over the last couple of years.

The real issue though is shouldn't someone put a lock on the beer fridge you keep next to your gaming desk?

I've been waiting to accidentally use my Grand Amnesty Edict instead of going on a murder spree to get the achievement first.

I have in the past used a character who knew the Motif or the Recipe to hold the Motif or Recipe for just this reason.

It would be better to be able to lock them.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yeah I try to keep rare motifs on mules who absolutely can't learn it (due to no skill points at all into crafting) but furniture plans are a whole new pain like recipes.
