What gear for magicka sorcerer?

Right now I am using ilambris and 4/5 burning spellweave. Will valkyn skoria or julianos be better for a magicka sorcerer? Why or why not?

No, spellweave and Ilambris are BIS for PVE. Either add willpower or trial jewels and trial/VMA staves or if you have a spellweave staff you can backbar it and use another 5pc set on the front bar.

Sorc runs best with fire/shock destro so spellweave and Ilambris work great.

hmm valkyn skoria seems to do more dmg but gets triggered on fire only

No, skoria is proc'd only on dots. Since most fire is dots I can see the confusion.

So why is ilambris better than skoria?

Sorc damage is less dots ilambris or infernal guardian for me. Make sure you use fire staff to proc burning spellweave.

What is dots? Can I use lightning staff with fire enchantment instead? I hate the animation for inferno and frost starves.

it says flame damage abilities trigger it, doing direct damage using inferno staff wouldn't trigger it right? because its not an ability.

DOTs is Damage over time.
A lightning and resto heavy attacks are considered dots.
I use silks of sun over BSW, because I mostly pvp. But I do have the sharpened swords for bsw.

A set like Netch's touch (http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Netch's+Touch+Set) may be more to your style if you don't want to use a fire staff. Plus with the amount of shock damage a sorc has, this may be more useful.

The glyph would work to proc BSW, but it wouldn't reliably give the buff.

I haven't tried to proc that set off of a glyph before. The only way I would use bsw would be with silks of the sun on a dw bar. But I prefer to destroy/resto my magdk instead of dw/resto

BSW procs on all fire damage ticks.

It will even proc from a burning tick.

I tested it out, both inferno staff and lightning staff with flame glyph can proc BSW. I find that lightning with flame glyph easier to proc for some reason from my perspective.

btw, what traits are considered good? I have a few impenetrable, 1 prosperous, 1 reinforced, not sure if I have well fitted.

Ilambris is good on sorcerer because it can proc both fire and lightning elements by using for example blockade of fire and liquid lightning. Also, always use the weapon and spell damage glyphs for your staves.

As for traits, go for divine on all pieces. Other traits don't benefit magicka sorc much besides maybe infused on the big pieces.
