BUG: Inventory UI - Opening Containers, Using Items, Destroying Items

When one of my PCs has attempted to open a Shipment Container (from fulfilling a Crafting Writ), attempted to use a Motif, or attempted to destroy an item (such as Used Bait), then the game client has displayed a UI Error message about EsoUI attempting to access a "private function". For what it may be worth, I believe that I have submitted at least one /bug report while in-game with an attached screenshot for another occasion when the same UI Error message was displayed.

It has also happened when my PC attempted to open a Sealed Master Crafting Writ while viewing inventory with the "All" column, but I didn't take a screenshot and dismissed the error. Subsequently, the PC opened the Sealed Master Crafting Writ while viewing it in inventory in another category, probably the Consumable view.

UPDATE (02/13/2017): For what it is worth, I have found that Awesome Guild Store has problems with the Inventory UI and/or Crafting Bag feature, and I've reported at least one UI Error to the developer via the ESOU Add-Ons website. I have also made a screenshot of a UI Error caused by Master Merchant when I opened the Inventory to look at and/or interact with items. I've also reported that UI error to the developer via the ESOU Add-Ons website. That said, neither of the UI Error messages that were displayed for either of these add-ons referred to the function EsoUI, which the others that I've shown above do.

It may be an add on you have screwing everything up. Make sure all your add ons are updated, if they are, take one off until it fixes it. I had the same issue until one of the add ons i use was updated.

So, which add-on was causing the problem in your system? All of those installed on my system that had any update pending were updated most recently about 16 hours ago.

The UI Error is intermittent, so disabling any particular add-on(s) could be irrelevant as to whether the UI Error occurs. Also, the UI Error might not occur after I change the Category to/from "All Items" from/to the specific Category in which the item is listed with others that have the same category (assuming there are others).

It is curious that the offending function is apparently called "EsoUI". There is no add-on installed by that name, but an add-on's source code might contain a function with that name, perhaps a "library function". It attempts to "access a private function from insecure code". In the ESO context, I don't know whether the term "private function" simply means one that was written by the ESO development team for the API, or the term signifies that the function is not available for use by add-ons.

If an add-on attempts to access a function to which access is prohibited, then its developer isn't playing by the rules. In the context of the UI Error, I suppose that any add-on per se would qualify as "insecure code".

Nonetheless, the implication is that the game client has a bug, i.e., unless in fact an add-on is attempting to access a function to which access by an add-on is prohibited.

I've been experiencing the same error, particularly inconvenient when you run out of food in the middle of trial/dungeon. Loading food/drink into the quick slot menu didn't work either.

Sometimes a reloadui or disabling all add-ons would temporarily resolve it. I haven't spent enough time experimenting to see if it is a particular add-on or whether that is just coincidental. A couple of times I completely lost the 'E option to open a door' as well, but that could be completely unrelated.

My wife gets it on her pc as well.

Update Inventory Grid View or similar addons.

Had the same bug from Inventory Grid View, just saw that you don't use it.

I can confirm. I disabled aui and the problem was gone.

So disable it and wait till it gets updated.

Sorry, but I don't recognize the acronym "aui". Please let us know the complete name of the add-on.

Both LUI and AUI could cause the same error; in my case it was LUI :(

Those "acronyms" are their actual names:
AUI aka Advanced UI - http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info919-AUI-AdvancedUI.html
    LUI aka LUI - http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info413-LUI.html

Thanks for letting me know, although I don't use either one of them. @Philgo68 has not updated Master Merchant 1.9.5 since I reported these UI Errors via his ESOUI Portal over two weeks ago. As far as I know (as I write), he has not confirmed that M.M. has a bug, and I don't know why. Perhaps the error is in one or more ESO Application Programming Interface (API) functions which only the ESO developers can correct, but that is simply speculation.

As it stands, after the UI Error is displayed, disabling Master Merchant and reloading the UI stops the error from being displayed again when I access the Inventory on one of my characters. However, the same UI Error is not being displayed while I use one of my other characters to do the same things. Since I enable exactly the same add-ons (and each add-on is the most recent version), for both of the respective characters, it doesn't seem likely that it is one of the other add-ons that is causing the UI Error to be displayed.
