[Alchemy][Updated] Question on Recipies.

Original Thread Question:
So I've finally taken a night and Mastered out Alchemy.

I want to create some Essence of Invisibility potions for my wife and I, but I've run into a stumbling block.

I know a good Invisibility. potion is made with Nirnroot and Namira's Rot, but I want to add an increase to Speed in there.

I tried it with Blessed Thistle (BT shares the Speed trait with Namira's Rot), but since it also shares Ravage Health with Nirnroot, my Invis + Speed potions are getting the nasty Ravage Health side effect.

So my Question is: What could I use to increase Speed that does not also share the Ravage Health trait?
Question 2:
Anyone know a good recipe for a Health + Magicka potion?

I've tried a couple of different combos, but while the potion preview tells me that I'm going to get a Health + Magicka potion, when the potion is crafted, it always comes out as just a Magicka Potion.

Anyone have any ideas?

Question 3:

For all the Poison aficionados, what is the most lethal/favorite poison that you like to craft? My brother-in-Law runs a couple Stamina characters that love to utilize Poisons, and I was wondering what some of the best recipes might be that I could make to help him out. :)

I don't know off hand, but you can find a list of craftable potions and what's required here: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Alchemy_Recipes

    Hope it helps.

Let's pull out my trait table...

    The ingredients with Invisibility are:
    • Blue Entoloma (Lower Spell Power, Ravage Magicka, Restore Health)
    • Namira's Rot (Spell Critical, Unstoppable)
    • Nirnroot (Lower Spell Crit, Lower Weapon Crit, Ravage Health)
    • Spider Egg (Defile, Reduce Speed, Sustained Restore Health)

    The ingredients with Speed are:
    • Blessed Thistle (Increase Weapon Power, Ravage Health, Restore Stamina)
    • Namira's Rot (Already covered ;) )
    • Scrib Jelly (Ravage Magicka, Sustained Restore Health, Vulnerability)

So, no matter what, you need Namira's Rot, as it's the only one with both traits.

Spider Egg needs to be eliminated, since it has Reduce Speed. So, that leaves you with Namira's Rot, Nirnroot or Blue Entoloma, and Blessed Thistle or Scrib Jelly

I'd give the following combos a try, to avoid those nasty Ravages:
    • Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, Scrib Jelly
    • Namira's Rot, Blue Entoloma, Blessed Thistle

Unless I made a mistake on my table, anyway, so check the effects yourself.

    Happy mixing!

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

    Thank you so much!

I was doing my own research as well, and I agree with you on the Spider Egg. I saw the *Reduce Speed* trait, but since nothing else shares that, I wasn't sure if it would cancel out the *Speed* trait. And I'm also as unsure about the Blue Entoloma, but I could try it as a "back up" I guess.

I think I'll probably Stick with:

    Namira's Rot
    Nirnroot
    Scrib Jelly

This just seems like the safest combination in my opinion. But I'll get to mixing tonight and see what happens! :D

Again, thank you very much for your input. It has been invaluable.

Keep in mind the Snakeblood passive too. It has to be on the person drinking the poison.
If you put all 3 points in it, any negatives are eliminated 100%, and the person drinking your first potion example would ignore any Ravage Health effects.

I think that Snakeblood has a bug tied to it then.

In my experimenting phase, I created an Invis pot that also had the Speed boost, but because of the third ingredient I was using, the Potion had the Ravage Health trait as well.

My Sorcerer has all three perk points allocated in Snakeblood, but when I tried the potion to test the length of the Invisibility, it damn near killed me as it did significant Ravage Health damage.

Snake blood passive has never worked, even in beta.
I have no idea why it is still in the skill tree as it does nothing. Its kinda like an old sofa in the corner of the room that no one sits in, but is too hard to move out of the apartment.

So, anyone know a recipe/ingredient combo that allows for a Health + Magicka potion?

They changed the wording so now snake blood works as written. It reduces the time of negative effects. Therefore any instant effects will not be negated... Since there's no time to reduce.

I'll try that then. Because I tried Butterfly Wing + Columbine + Corn Flower; and while the Potion preview said it would be a Health + Magicka potion, once crafted the potion was simply an Essence of Magicka potion that had no Health effects on it.

So I'll try your mixture and see what happens. :D

Just to add some confusion, you might try Potent Witchmothers Brew, it adds Health, Magic and Magic Regen. That might work too. Recipe is 300 to 500 on Guild Stores

Yeah, I thought of that one. I got the recipe during the Witch's Festival, but never really gave it much thought. I may have to go back and look at it again though.

Simplest combo for health and magicka is Bugloss and Columbine. Add Dragonthorn or Mountain Flower as a third and get Stamina as well. Classic Tripot.

    Thanks for the update!!
So they did 'fix' it sometime, but i still fail to see its relevance to anything useful...and for 3 skill points at that.

    Yup.

I ended up using the Coumbine + Lady's Smock + Water Hyacinth combo. Makes a great Health + Magicka pot that also boots regen and Spell Crit.

So far, it has worked wonders for those protracted World Boss fights where sustain kinda-sorta becomes an issue.

Working on a Health + Stamina potion now for my brother in law. The only reason I didn't do the Tri-pot as @Ourorboros suggested, is because my wife and I only use Magicka characters, so Stamina (even for break-free/dodge-roll) isn't really an issue.

But I might try the tri-pot combo and see how my Brother-in-Law likes it.
