Currently ESO may not work via Steam purchase

Bought ESO Gold Edition on Steam today (Friday February 10th).

- Purchase went through.

- Downloaded / Installed the game. Allowed it to patch to full.

- Launched game and got to selection screen of New to Elder Scrolls Online or have Existing Account. Selected New.

- Created account (Account name is Tevox.Wake). Received confirmation etc.

- Try to play the game but cannot get past "Requesting Login" from in game (the screen just before character lobby screen)

- Tried verifying local data files within Steam / reinstalling / re-downloading / reinstalling Steam client.

- Tried using someone else's ESO account on different Steam account but same machine, and was able to login with no problem.

- In my account page of The Elder Scrolls Online (using browser) it says I have no game linked to my account.

- Requested a refund through Steam.

Since I was able to get into the game on the same machine by using another person's ESO account also through stream, I can only assume this is a recent problem (after homestead patch) and that ZOS has done something to the user accounts system with steam accounts / purchases.

I've already requested my refund via Steam, this is really just to let ZOS know that there's an issue (pretty bad one since you can't play the game), and also a heads up for anyone else thinking of buying through Steam. It may not happen every time, but it does happen.

Just a further clarification on the problem.

After opening game from Steam library and clicking Play on launcher, the game launches and takes you to the Login screen, where the game automatically attempts to log you in since it's linked to Steam account.

Then you are stuck on the "Requesting Login" page forever. I left it on for 10+ minuets just to test but nothing happened. No crash or error message, just the dimmed screen with the requesting login message as the little circle thing spinning forever. There's no cancel button, or any option to stop login so you can try to enter Login information again. I even tried changing my password via my ESO account in browser to see if it could break the automated login but that did not work either.

If you are still having this issue I suggest doing the following:

Check your Steam version of ESO

Before you can link your accounts, you need to ensure you have the right Steam version of ESO installed.
1.Log into Steam and click the Library button.
2.Right-click on The Elder Scrolls Online and select Properties
3.Select the Local Files tab and check Current Content Build ID at the bottom of the page.◦If the version is not equal to or higher than "1380321," you will need to delete and reinstall the game first.
◦If the version is equal to or higher than "1380321," you can skip down to the "Link your ESO and Steam accounts in game" step below.

Uninstall and reinstall your local Steam version of ESO

If you do not have the right version of ESO installed on Steam, you will need to delete and reinstall it.
1.From the Steam Library, right-click on The Elder Scrolls Online.
2.Select Delete Local Content to uninstall your current (out of date) version.
3.Reinstall the game fresh by selecting ESO from the Steam Library again and selecting Install.

Link your ESO and Steam accounts in game

Once you have the correct version of ESO in Steam, you can then link your Steam account to your ESO account.
1.From the Steam Library, select The Elder Scrolls Online and press Play.
2.Allow the ESO Launcher to open, download and apply any required updates, and select Play.
3.From the in-game login screen, select the “I have an existing PC/Mac Elder Scrolls Online account” checkbox.
4.Input your ESO UserID and password and select Login.
5.Select Accept on the link confirmation window.

Your Steam account will now be linked with your ESO account! You can now log into the game and play by simply launching the game from your Steam Library.
