Bought ESO Gold Edition on Steam today (Friday February 10th).
- Purchase went through.
- Downloaded / Installed the game. Allowed it to patch to full.
- Launched game and got to selection screen of New to Elder Scrolls Online or have Existing Account. Selected New.
- Created account (Account name is Tevox.Wake). Received confirmation etc.
- Try to play the game but
cannot get past "Requesting Login" from in game (the screen just before character lobby screen)
- Tried verifying local data files within Steam / reinstalling / re-downloading / reinstalling Steam client.
- Tried using someone else's ESO account on different Steam account but same machine, and was able to login with no problem.
- In my account page of The Elder Scrolls Online (using browser) it says I have no game linked to my account.
- Requested a refund through Steam.
Since I was able to get into the game on the same machine by using another person's ESO account also through stream, I can only assume this is a recent problem (after homestead patch) and that ZOS has done something to the user accounts system with steam accounts / purchases.
I've already requested my refund via Steam, this is really just to let ZOS know that there's an issue (pretty bad one since you can't play the game), and also a heads up for anyone else thinking of buying through Steam. It may not happen every time, but it does happen.
