Unable to Take Screen Shots

My default folder is under my user name - BirgitHøiland
After the last patch I have been unable to save screenshots - when trying to take a screenshot I see on screen saving file to folder BirgitH[]iland etc - the ø character is not recognised.
I have logged in on my husbands computer and been able to save screen shots (he has no "non English" characters in his name).

How do I change the default screenshot folder path?

You change the path by changing the location of My Documents in Windows.

But, that won't solve your issue. It is the character in your name that is causing this. Since it was introduced by the last patch, there is hope they can fix this. Things like this come up from time to time after an update. Do a /Bug and a /Feedback and note what happened.

Otherwise, changing your account name may end up being the fix. Hopefully it does not come to that.

Thank you both for your help.
If this is not fixed in a patch then it looks like we will need to create a new user.
We tried the default path suggested by Rouven, however the screenshots are stored in User Name\My Documents\Elder Scrolls\Live\Screenshots and not User Name\Pictures
As Nestor points out the issue is with the User Name and moving My Documents does not solve the problem.

Creating a new user account with a User Name that does not include the "foreign" characters seems a bit of sad solution to something that should not need to be fixed this way.... oh well. Maybe hopefully it will be addressed in a patch.

You should not have to create a new account, that would be kind of extreme. You can just get the account renamed, that should be something quick and easy to get done through support.

The issue is with the way in that Elder Scrolls Online "talks" to Windows 10 - the UserName folder in Windows 10 is BirgitHøiland and so the ESO folder is
    E:\BirgitHøiland\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\Live\Screenshots
it appears that ESO does not recognise the ø character and so screenshots can not be saved.

    Solutions being considered
    a. Get ESO to save into a different folder - not worked out how
    b. get it fixed by "ESO"
    c. create a new windows 10 user with a "user name" that excludes ø å æ and so forth....

Taking screeshots worked until the latest update and stopped working immediately after.
Taking screenshots works on other computers and laptops where the windows 10 user name does not include ø

I tried something like this again and it worked :)

I made a directory called Birgit and a subfolder called Documents then moved "documents" to the new "documents" and ta - da - screenshots are working again.

So confirming the problem - and that the solution suggested by Rouven works - just took a little time to sort out.

    Hi
Same problem here. I submitted a ticket.
I am tempted to change my User folder from Raphaël to Raphael, but I'm sure this will screw a lot of other things.
Best idea I had was to paste my screenshots to paint immediately after taking it and saving from there.
Or use Windows key + prt scr to save the shots directly to C:\Users\<user name>\Pictures\Screenshots (works for Window 8+ apparently)

I was gonna say something similar to this, I don't play pc so don't know how screenshots work for ESO, but if you press the print screen key it will auto save into my documents/pictures. Well usually does, it will say something like pntscn******. It usually goes in numerical order based on date and time. I'm pretty sure somewhere you can change the default folder that the screens are save into can't remember where tho.

Bit of a pain but only possible solution I know of.

Not sure if there was in settings file the setting for screenshot path but that could have been solution too. I know there are other settings related to screenshots like the format and so.

I just wonder even though modern days do allow special characters in usernames, who really uses special characters in usernames as they are very likely to cause issues somewhere. Myself still prefer underscore as space instead of space in filenames.

When you first log into Windows 10 it asks you for your name and email address to create an account.
Whilst it might appear inconvenient to others some of us have names that do not conform to "English".
Windows 10 generates the user folder automatically based on your actual name.

The game used to accommodate this, but after the last major update does not.

Not surprised of Microsoft. Also not surprised of Zos breaking thigs. Think only and best way would be to create new local account for the win10 and then attach the ms account to the local account. This of course means moving all data under the my documents folder to the new local account folder. Seems if you create your account using ms credentials and you happen to have special chars in your name you are in for some trouble sooner or later. Think this same was option in win8 too but you were able to create local account or choose to use the ms account.

Sorry for the necroposting, but I'd like to point that this is still an issue.

Can't take screnshots under my wife's windows account because there is an " í " in her windows account name. It works fine with ANY other user profile.

Glad to see things are getting fixed...

The only solution we could find was to create a new "my documents" folder with standard US English characters.

This is a failing of ZOS and not microsoft as before 1 tam this was not an issue.
