Random Daily Dungeon Activity Glitch

I've been seeing a supremely annoying bug that results in the player who is not the group leader not receiving credit for completing the daily random dungeon activity when two two-man groups are merged in the dungeon finder.
At least that's the suspicion. I found a little bit on it, but most references were years old. I would have thought this would've been addressed by now and also if it were an ongoing thing still, people would be constantly complaining about it. So... is it something my buddy and I are doing wrong, or is this still a thing?
Having to do the daily random twice half the time is getting REALLY old.
