Lacks the ability to build the house from the ground up - this would have been especially great use of crafting skills.

Lacks the ability to add modular wings/rooms/towers/cellars or demolish these - even some pre-existing paintings cannot be removed and paintings placed over them to hide them.

Due to item limits building with stone blocks or other materials is severely limited in scope and creative potential.

Colour - cannot paint my house or change the colour of the stones or materials.

Towers - have limited view due to high guardrails. If I want to risk the life of myself or my visitors by removing railings for an unobstructed view I am unable to.

Almost no purpose to visit my house once I have finished decorating it since the house adds no unique quality of life or practical use, and yes this includes the practice skelly (console users may find this useful for DPS but that is due to ZOS not providing them with the requisite simple UI option to display DPS).

Cannot install a stablemaster to park my alts for training mounts, so they remain parked next to stables in regular open world cities.

Cannot place models of my other characters.

Can't place existing unique fish or unique monster trophys (remember the trophy's achievement list of collectibles, ZOS - yes these were once a thing)

Can't make written signs or item frames...OK I'll stop with the minecraft inspired suggestions now before I get out of control.

Cannot use chests, they should at least open and close even if we are not allowed to put things in them.

No armour stands, even as craftables. Even if we can't place our own armor a replica armor set for motifs would be nice to display known motifs - sort of like a tailor's display room (like in thieves guild quest).

Target skeleton (even the heavy one) gets knocked down whereas there is literally no boss in the game with 6m health which can be knocked down with a simple crystal frag. As you know, some skills do more damage to enemies knocked down which influences the DPS results.

Target skeleton is not customisable in terms of health/armour/resistances and so is very limited in terms of usefulness for testing purposes other than a baseline DPS for guild elite vetting purposes or epeen management.

This isn't Skyrim, ZOS' Housing Update isn't nearly the same as Hearthfire. Everyone has to share the same world space which means everyone has to share the same House. It would be incredibly difficult for ZOS to allow every single player be able to build their own custom home in the same space as everyone else, which is why they opted for prebuilt and placed Homes that have interior instances so at least the decoration is still unique.

Okay, I get it. You do not like the present housing because it misses out on things you wish to have.
Let me say that there are a lot of things I wish for. Things that are not there.
Having said that; I do not think the present state of housing will stay as it is at the moment.
Me thinks there will be regular updates to improve things and new items will be added.
Call me suspicious if you wish, but the Crown-store will need to keep going and so.... yea... they will add new stuff in the months to come.

Until further improvement; My evaluation is that Housing as it is right now is not worth the coin spend. (Game gold or real cash.) Do better Z.

It's an instanced space, I don't see why this would be a problem at all. The fact you can build your own structures (see PTS arena for example) proves this. It would just take longer to implement then the cut and pasted houses we got.

Don't get me wrong, I love my daggerfall overlook mansion, I just think a lot of improvements could be made, right now it seems very basic, empty and pointless outside of RP. I think you are right that ZOS will add more exciting features later, hopefully it doesn't end up a forgotten and neglected feature.

I don't know what you are complaining about.

To me my house is a version of achievements.

I enjoy buying a nice house (in game gold only. no way am I spending real money on this) and then decorating it with crafted items, achievement items (again for in game gold) and drops that I find while adventuring.

Then I can also invite my friends over to admire my collection as well as my creativity in decorating my house.

    I genuinely enjoy this.

To me this is like the justice system, or PVP.

It's another feature of the game that some people will really enjoy, and other people will wonder why anyone would ever bother. Could it be improved? For sure. Will it be expanded upon in the future? I certainly hope so.

But for what it is right now I am very happy with it.

I agree with many of your points OP, and disagree with some. I gave your post an "Awesome" though because you expressed your opinions coherently and with zero presence of entitled whining. Good job OP.

Why thank you friend! Feel free to pop over and visit me at Daggerfall Overlook where I will be attempting to erect a slaughterfish net out of privacy barriers to protect my smugglers cove exit :)

Ha! The first thing I did after buying my Forsaken Stronghold was build a plank ramp off the back of it, trying to scale up the mountain. Unfortunately I too ran into an invisible wall really quick XD
