Group (Finder) Broken

I don't know how they managed to break the group finder tool, as it was finally decent in the previous patch, but it is broken now.

When you queue for a specific (or several) dungeon(s), with members in your group already, it performs a ready check – without even telling you which dungeon it is for. After everyone have confirmed, nothing happens, and you recieve an error message that someone is not ready. At this point, you try again several times to no success. Suddenly, though not always, everyone in the group are ported – without warning – into one of the dungeons you were queued for.

Even if you are just three members, it may still teleport you in. The tool is so inconsistent it's hard to even explain what the issues are. I also have been unable to leave groups several times now, having to relog in order to join another one.

All the group finder problems I have experienced have come from being at my house. The group finder doesn't seem to work right unless I leave. Even when grouped with friends no one could exit the group or queue up while I was at my home. The second I exited my home everyone was able to use the group functions normally. It's kind of strange.

I haven't tried anything related to houses, but I am usually not able to leave the group or queue up after we finish the activity.

whenever I read something in the patch notes about "group finder", my mind automatically substitutes everything with "we fiddled around with the group finder and messed up (again)." :D

I know, right? How hard can it be to make it work?

I have now sat in the queue for nearly an hour waiting for a random normal with me - tank - and my son - healer, obviously this would pop in about 10 seconds before the Homestead patch.

ZOS have managed the impossible, made Group Finder more broken that it was.

ESO is a good game in the hands of utter imbeciles.

I used the update group finder with no issues. The ready check at the beginning was needed to stop people afk from being placed in a group.
Even, when queued as dps during prime, I found a group in < 5 min. Unheard of before the update.
I can understand the annoyance about it not being clear on which dungeon is being queued for.

I know, it's *the* basic MMO tool that all games implement with no trouble at all. But you ask the ZOS gibbons to do it and 3 years later they still can't implement it effectively. Truly hilarious.

Seriously ZOS, the group finder was never as broken as it is after this patch.

You tested this thing for a month on the PTS. How the hell could this buggy piece of c...ode have made it to the live server?!

Of the 5 randoms I tried today, none worked properly. Two didn't count as random. For one I had to leave the group 3 times afterwards, was ported back into the dungeon repeatedly. One group was disbanded instantly. For one we had to port INTO the dungeon 4 times because we'd keep getting kicked out again.

You seriously should have used that money wasted on that superbowl commercial wisely, and hire some competent coders!

    That's easy to explain.

On the PTS there was likely so few people that the Group Finder only had to match a group that was already formed or from such a small pool of players it only had to match one group at a time. With how it was coded, it did it flawlessly.

Now its under a heavier load and having to match like a hundred groups at a time, premades, partial premades, and everything together to get what is needed. The system and algorithms aren't up to the task for such a volume. Hence the bugs you see.

PTS hardly ever gets enough players on it to stress it out. So systems are never stress tested. The fix to this is to select 1 out of 3 people to be forced to play on there when they make major changes that need a stress test. Are you willing to be dragged from your group of friends or guildies to do that? I don't think so.

So there's not much of a way to make the situation better from a testing standpoint.

Yeah that's the funny thing. I get the feeling that on Live, the group finder has way more issues with a pre-made group. 4 out of the 5 today where I had issues WERE pre-made.

Same here, we had 3 runs with an pre made group to specific undaunted dungeons and had lots of problems getting in.
In this case the entire group finder should be bypassed, probably log us in case we needed an replacement from the random pool but nothing else. Deal with the simple stuff first.

My guess is that then lots of people has problem you get an traffic jam as they retries

Then do the matching, make sure to group the ones who kick other from groups very often together.
Then the ones who has very low success rate creating dungeons together in the hardest dungeons and so on.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Yeah I really thing the pre-made groups are mostly the issue. Just did another random with one, and it once more did not count.
