Add-Ons to reduce Effects on self

Hi All!

I just recently picked up the game and made myself a Stamina-DK-Orsimer.
What really bothers me are some of the DK-Effects shown on my character (most notably "Dragon Blood" and "Spiked Armor" and their Morphs).

I am an Orsimer-Heavy-Armor-Melee-Tank but it never feels like it because i am 100% of times translucent and Glowing and i have lava-spikes comming out from my back etc.
What is this character supposed to be? A Stealth-Magic-yet-non-magic Swordfighter? Why cant i just watch my armor and weapons with DK? (guessing "Dragon Blood" is too good
to not have it in a DK-build)

It really bothers me. I even refuse to play this character in 3rd-Person because of the effects (sadly Dragon Blood even sucks in 1st person since my weapons get translucent)
and also i am tired of dying from deadly Boss-AOE-Heelhits.

Is there any mod that lets me turn off those effects? it would really boost my gaming-experience quite a bit.

I'd be grateful for your suggestions!

best regards
Genitor

Those Visual Effects are there so you know they underlying buff or debuff are in effect. This is a core element of the game.

As for whether Dragon Blood is any good or not is a subject for another thread, of which there are many. To be honest I hardly ever use the Spike Armor or Green Dragon Blood on my DKs.

As far as addons, understand that they only change or add to, or remove, the UI information that comes to you (stats, inventory buff and debuff timers, damage numbers etc). Removing a visual effect like you propose would be basically hiding those effects from opponents in PvP.

I guess if you hate the visual effects that much, you can just not use the skills that cause them. And, in the thick battle if your doing things right, these are the least of the effects you will see.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

This way of tracking ones buff is insufficient, to say the least. Even if u could track your buffs by looking on the effects (i wanna see u check on "momentum" infight when u have "Dragon blood", "Spiked armor" etc. up) the problem that u never know how long your buffs last remains.

I use an Add-on to track my buffs, like everyone else.

I dont want to see it. Everyone else can see my effects as much as they want.
Btw. i am pretty sure that anyone who takes PvP only halfserious uses buff-displaying mods anyway.

You are kidding me, right? I just hope Zenimax and/or Modautors have a different aproach to solving Problems.

It is not possible for addon creators to make an addon that would toggle on/off the skill effects. That would be a core change to animations in the game, something only ZOS can do.

While buff trackers are a more direct way of indicating effects, there are many people who don't use them (you'd be surprised!) and use their time and experience with visual cues to keep buffs up.

For instance on my stam sorc, I don't need to watch my buff addon to know when to recast hurricane just before or just as it is ending, because I know from experience how much I can do in between recasts

The same for my mDK and casting Blockade, and Eruption

That all said, you can, as a stam DK, swap out GDB for Vigor, and something like Igneous Shield instead of Spiked Armor, for similar benefits, with less intrusive visual effects.

Stormproof: Vibeke - 50 EP mDragonknight | Savi Dreloth - 50 EP Magsorc | Sadi Dreloth - 50 EP Magblade | Sigtric Stormaxe - 50 EP Stamsorc | Valora Dreloth - 50 EP Magplar | Sigtric the Unbearable 50 EP Stam Warden
Scrub: Chews-on-Beavers - 50 EP DK Tank | Vera the Wild - 50 EP magicka Warden | Sigtric the Axe - 50 EP Dragonknight Crafter | Sigtric the Blade - 50 EP Lost Nightblade | Sigtric the Savage - 50 EP magicka Templar | Vibeka Shadowblade - 50 Ep Stealthy Ganky Nightblade |

Yes, I know some players use Buff Trackers, but no one on the consoles do, because it is not available. And, I don't use them on the PC. So, not everyone uses them as you propose. And there are some pretty serious PvP'rs on the consoles.

As for kidding you, I am just giving you a dose of reality. No addons can change the on player graphics, it just won't happen. If you hate the visual effects this much, your only choice is to not use the skills that have those effects. Or, get used to them.

I know your not getting the answers you want to hear, but you are getting the truth. ZOS has spoken about Buff Timers and Indicators for the game since this was released. 3 years on, we still don't have them as part of the stock UI. What they have never talked about is removing the visual effects on the characters in the game. In fact, if anything the changes they have done increase the visual and auditory effects, not reduce them. Well, except for Magelight as some people were affected physically by the spinning ball.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
