Recommend me a good build for magicka sorceror

I am at CP 160 and I simply get destroyed so easily.
I assigned like 15 attribute points in health, the rest in magicka but my health is still way too low even after eating bread.
Did not assign my CP yet as I am afraid I screw up and they might be permanent, can we choose to reassign CP in the game?
My equipment is also crap.
Please recommend me a good build for PVE magicka sorceror, I read that some people are able to solo veteran dungeons easily, wtf, how can I be a better player?

Put everything in magicka. use shields, surge ,potions.
if you can't sustain try sets like enigine guardian or other sets that give regen.
If you are going full dps as a sorc I would recommend illambris and as 5pc burning spell weave/ scathing mage/ twice born star/julianos. and some will power rings since you probably don't have any moondancer or IA rings ( I still sometimes use willpower :) )

you can just assign your cp. you can respec them for 3k gold if you want to change them.
Dro'mathra Destroyer, Gryphon Heart, Immortal Redemeer, Tick Tock Tormentor, The Unchained, Exstinguisher of Flames, Flawless Conqueror

Hi, alot to cover in your post! @ESOUser0x00

    1. As a sorc go all Magika, and run wards for protection. Sure you might need health for a while to not get one shotted but focus on wards
    2. Bread is not gpod food. Get blue Max health & Magika food. Awesome
    3. Assign the CP. You can respec, costs 3k Gold. It's pretty self explanatory if you read all the stars. Magician / Arcanist for cost reduction / regen. Ele defender / hardy damage reduction, ele expert damage increase, Thaumatruge if you use DOT etc
    4. Get 160 gear. Either farm mats (need alot, 130ish per item) and get someone to craft (magbus/seducer/julianos/krags/TBS) or farm zones for magika gear you can use. Aim for good traits, divines/infused or Impen PvP
    5. You don't need to copy a build. Finding your own way is best. Copy and paste is dull. The points above will really help.
    6. Skills, all the early sorc skills are handy, mages wrath, crystal frag pets to heal you / tank, get your Magika pool up high average at end game is 40k and 3k spell damage and over 50% spell crit

Sorry for format, rushed and on a phone

Sorc defence is from Shields - hardened ward and whatever morph of the light-armour skill you choose.

Shield strength is mainly due to your max magicka.

You damage is also related to max magicka.

high max magicka = good. Just get used to keeping hardened up at all times if dying is a problem - and stacking it with the other shield when under pressure. If you can get your magicka to around 38k+ (at your CP), you're good - but more is still usually better!

    Hello!

I just came back to the game and was sort of in the same boat as you. My previous gear was either Champ 120 (adroitness 2 piece) or champ 140 (I ran Willow's path 5 piece, 2 piece torug's pact, and 2 piece cyrodiil's light).

I reached 160 2 days ago (in the 170s now).

For the actual skill selection and playing the build, I suggest you look here: http://deltiasgaming.com/eso-magic-sorcerer-dps-build as that is where I took most of this from. Overload on your back bar is really important because it gives you access to so much utility and is a decent ult dump when you are low on magicka to keep doing DPS (restores magicka w/ high damage). The rest of this post was my adjustments to being far below max champ points, needing to craft my sets, and not having all the passives necessary. My build is also made more for PvP (though it is interchangeable with PvE as I have high magicka and spell damage for my CP level), but some of the decisions, such as impen, are survivability choices for PvP. You can sacrifice much of that in favor of damage in PvE while being a bit more glassy.

It seems that, in cyrodiil at least, stacking max magicka is important. However, you need to do the dps outside of Cyrodiil, so spell power sets are probably fine. Magicka does scale with your ability damage, but not as well as spell power, because max magicka also buffs your shield values (important in PvP, not as much in PvE other than being able to sustain longer while losing some burst potential)

I crafted cp160 Julianos (5 piece) and Torug's Pact (2 piece spellpower) and upgraded it all to legendary. I made an inferno and lightning staff (inferno for single target boss burst, lightning for AoE mob clearing). I still have my 3 spell power jewelry pieces (2x Light of Cyrodiil and 1x Bloodthorn Touch(Adroitness) and a cp 120 Adroitness belt as I haven't replaced them yet with appropriate 160 gear. Probably will get a Willpower jewelry set or something and I'll replace Torug's Pact with another 3 piece. Max Magicka glyphs on all my pieces. Infused on the 3 major ones (helm, chest, legs) and impen on the other 3 and reinforced on the shoulders (since I have heavy armor on them as they are a max armor piece while having a small enchant slot. For PvE you could opt for Divines on them instead, which would probably be alright. My other heavy piece is my chest. The other 5 are light. For the Undaunted passive, you want 1 medium and 1 heavy instead of 2 heavy for the bonuses.

For weapons, I have a Fire and Lightning Staff. Sharpened. And Spell damage glyphs on both. For my Resto staff, I took Defending since it is on my defensive back bar and I figured some extra resists would be helpful to not getting nuked so hard by people rolling around with the 600 CP cap (5160 physical and spell resist). You could probably run precise on them for PvE. I don't know how much of a difference the 7% crit vs. 5160 penetration is in DPS. For a dps build in a group, you'll run double destro for AoE and single target. For solo stuff or a group where they can't protect you for whatever reason, you want Destro/Resto with the wards.

64 magicka in attributes, and for blue I split between spell pen, elemental damage, and crit damage (elemental damage is most important in the long run followed by penetration but splitting points is best early on for the most efficient stat returns), for green I split between magicka regen and cost redux, and in orange I split between Bastion (heavily) as the shield strength is your main source of mitigation as well as hearty/elemental defender to give you % mitigation. The shield strength is less important in PvE as they are much stronger base than in PvP so hearty/elemental def is going to be more important in PvE. Again, splitting your champ points among the important stats early on will give you the best bang for your buck before you hit the diminishing returns.

Combat in this game comes down to Skill Rotations, with Light or Heavy Attacks interspersed. So, it's more like 1,2,3,4,1,2,3 dead. Pick your skill rotations so that one skill will set up or buff another skill. For example, use a skill that Snares, then a skill that gives Damage over Time to an area so the snared mobs spend longer in pain, then use a spam damage skill. This is just one example.

Once you learn a good rotation, then you can weave in light or heavy attacks between the skills to extend the resource pool you play from. So it's more like 1, LMB, 2, LMB,3, LMB, 4, LMB, 1 Dead. Then once you learn how to weave attacks, then you can start animation canceling to up your DPS.

So, attacks are not just a spam of the Left Mouse Button, but an application of your skills and weapon attacks.

You add in Blocking (reduce damage), Bashing (interrupting a caster or heavy attack wind up), Dodge Rolling (double click on a WASD key to avoid damage and get out of red quickly). Throw in some terrain advantage, and your basically a Mobile, Agile and Hostile wrecking machine.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    5 Burning Spellweave armor
    3 Willpower jewelry
2 Undaunted (Ilambris, Grothdar) or 3 pieces of another set (Magnus, Seducer)

That's pretty much it. Make sure your staff is CP160 sharpened. Doesn't even have to be a set piece. Work towards replacing Willpower jewelry with Infallible Aether once you get it. Work towards getting those Undaunted sets.

Until you get really comfortable with your resource management, farm Lich set from Crypt of hearts.

Once you figure out your resources current BIS % Burning Spell Weave w Maelstrom weapons if you don't have the weapons you are in farm mode until you can find BSW staff then run 5BSW front bar 5 Scathing Mage back bar.

5 elegant/5 spinners is actually pretty good. People trash elegant for anything other than overload, forgetting that you weave light/heavy attacks every other action. I'm not suggesting it's BiS but it is cheap and effective for solo pve. Spinners loses effectiveness when group buffs are present, but it's great solo. Mobs have a lot of resistances these days.

Elegant can be bought for as little as 4k per piece with divines, and spinners is not much more. They're also easy to farm if you don't need the weapons. My 2 pence.

    Slot radiant magelight.

I actually tried your suggestion after not slotting it since it was changed and it's now a staple on my bar. I went from being one shot from stamblades to completely dominating some of them while they tried to run away.

Had trouble with a magicka dk though which kept me in a constant loop of shield casting till his ultimate was up. Any tips?

Have a lightning staff with stam mag cost increase poison, hold down left mouse button while heavy attack weaving some curse/shield/Mage's Wrath. Also if you run away from a nightblade they will catch you, only way to stay alive against a nightblade is to attack him.
