Can't even install the launcher!

So hitting the Install_ESO.exe file just runs up the bar to 100% and then nothing happens. The appdata folder thing shows up but I'm not going to bother rebooting my computer in safe mode or w/e just to get the damn game to install. Just make a better installer. It seriously can't be that complicated, devs are clearly just lazy, which really just puts me off wanting to play altogether.

Im still having issues of trying to get my launcher to even open. I've reinstalled my game two times already and have tried every possible thing there is from what I've read, seen, looked up or have been told and still nothing works. I've even set myself as administrator and still nothing. I meet all the requirements of a Window's 8 and am not sure whats the matter with the game.

A friend of mine had this problem yesterday. He fixed it by starting his computer in safe mode, and then trying to use the installer again. If that doesn't work, you could try running it in compatabiltiy mode.

How about I do nothing and the people trying to sell me a product just makes it work? It can't be complicated since I have installed hundreds of games on this computer and only this and Tera didn't work.

You can try that too, but don't hold your breath. It's simpler and faster to just use this quick workaround

Alright tried it. Obviously didn't work. I knew it wouldn't. Now I've wasted 10 minutes for nothing. Meanwhile the devs can't spend 10 minutes just fixing their installer

We're all having server issues, there are a lot of players that are currently unable to log on, so you likely will not be able to download the launcher until the servers get fixed.

I am having the same issue....I have not played in awhile and was looking to come back....it been days and no response from my ticket...I am not a novice and have tried almost everything.

Same problem can't install launcher. Tried everything that was posted. Doesn't work in safe mode. Tried the msconfig way on help. win 8.1 says not compatable.

its nvidia driver screwing up with java application, including ESO installer which use it

from another thread, looks like this is the most effective fix for this kind of problem now

1. Go to C:\Users\<UseeName>\AppData\Local\Temp
2. Search "Resource1.zip" in that folder
3. Open the zip file (any one of them if several come up)
4. Go to $IA_PROJECT_DIR$\src_path
5. Extract the whole "Launcher" folder to (this is important):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online

It's important you extract "Launcher" to that particular folder and not to the Zenimax Online folder in your Program files. That's what I did at first and it did not work. It HAS to go in the Steam folder.

6. Restart Steam
7. Try to run the game

Hopefully this works at least for some of you.

or you can try reinstall Nvidia driver, like this guy said here that its nvidia driveir problem with the java installer

This was happening on my girlfriend's computer, and installing this hotfix from NVidia solved the problem for us: http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4378

If you have an NVidia graphics card, this will probably fix your issue.

I have struggled a week on the issue tried everything. Only running the gforce hot fix worked.

I had this problem a few days ago when i re-installed the game. The fix I used was extremely simple. It seems it installed the game and all it's files--it just didn't put the launcher icon onto the desktop. I went into the C:\ directory and went to the game folder. I 'sent to desktop' the ESO launcher file and it fixed everything. Now, I just click the desktop icon and the launcher opens--and runs the game fine.
