Since when were mounts ever in your inventory? I've only ever had them in the collections tab.
It sounds like you need to add them to your quick slots again xD

TBH it's pretty poor design/implementation if someone has to relog if they make a mistake placing something just to place it down again correctly.
Shameful if this is the case.
Considering this is the first complaint I've seen on horses in particular, the OP may just be confused.

I have done this multiple times today and had no issues.
Maybe there is an addon causing issues?
