Restarted pc(win10), repaired client, same problem without any notifications or errors. Then very long time after - closing due to inactivity.
What to do?

My issue is basically the same, only my load screen isn't black. Downloaded update, repaired, restarted computer, downloaded... something? ... and tried logging in. The first load screen lasted 20 minutes. The second, 10 minutes. The current load screen?

    One. Hour. (And counting!)

Can't even get to character select. Heh.

Not sure if it's a NA PC issue or what.

Yep, same here. My longest load screen lasted for an hour and a half before giving me that message.

Yup same issue here. First tried updating the game. Needed a repair. After that I needed to repair again. Finally got to log in and after the login screen I just got a continual loading screen, couldn't even get to the character select screen. Tried quitting and rebooting twice but stuck with the same issue.

On top of the News is and option called "game options"
    Select "Repair"

If I repair when it hits 50% of the install step it crashes and says I have a file that is running possibly the game. After I reboot it goes through but I get the same thing.

    okay, try some steps bellow

right click on your ESO shortcut
    select property's
    select compatibility
select run this program in compatibility mode for *windows 7

    if that fails try below

type msconfig, into your start menu
got to the services tab, select hide all Microsoft services
    then select disable all
    next go to startup
disable anything that is not relevant in start up
for windows 10 and 8 users there will be a link that will take you to task manager, select the startup tab (might need to select show more)

    -restart your pc
next disable any anti virus you have (temporarily, this shouldn't be effect you but worth a shot)

-let me know if that doesn't work
