Help with magicka builds for DK and Templar duo (high elves)

Hi ESO friends. My son and I were early beta ESO players and are coming back to ESO for our 3rd time, and we need help with our DK and Templar builds. We were max VR at the time (VR12 iirc), we left before the Imperial City content released but not long after champion points system was introduced. We did a lot of PvP but got tired of the lag and exploits.

We are looking for solid, straightforward builds for PvE so we can come up to speed, but hopefully we could morph those builds for PvP so we don't have two totally different sets of builds. My son is only 10, hence the need to keep things relatively simple, and we want to avoid animation cancelling and a lot of in-combat bar switching. We will be mostly duoing together in PvE.

Since he is a high elf DK, I suppose a magicka build is best for him? But he usually acts as our tank, and I am the healer. he leaned towards 1H+shield and destr staff for weapons, can 1H/shield work with a magicka build? Any suggestions for skills? What about armor type? I think we both used to run with 5H and 2L for PvP survivability. How are magicka DK's in PvP?

My high elf Templar is easier. I used to run with resto and destr staff, although I loved 1H/Shield back in the days when balanced mag/sta builds were possible; is 1H/shield possible with magicka build or are staffs best (I don't really want to run dual wield unless its abs necessary). Of course BoL was my favorite skill, but I need to do some damage in our duo as well. I used to like Reflective Light for PvE. How are Toppling Charge and Blazing Shield these days? Is Blazing Shield still bugged? Is Radiant Magelight as good for PvP as it sounds? Is Cleansing Ritual any good or is it easier to use Purge from the Alliance skills?

I know this is a lot of questions, but any help is appreciated, even if its just to point me in the right direction for up-to-date builds. Like I said, I especially need help for my son's DK build because I am less familiar with DKs and what is reasonably effective and yet simpler to play these days. Once my son and I get the basic guidance down (abilities and weapons) we can figure out the rest later, like specific armor sets etc.

I'm not really good at builds so I just use others for inspiration. Since your son is high elf DK tank I think Deltia's Gaming's T3 Magic DK Tank would be pretty good for him. As for you as a magic high elf templar, Deltia also has a magic templar build(I belive it's called Omega). Lucky for you, magic templars are really easy to play And I do recommend checking out Deltia or someone else in the future.

If you want an easy mode build that does awesome damage on a high elf dk, check this out.
