1005 Error

Keep getting "Error 1005 OSError Access Denied"

"Access Denied. A file could not be updated due to either insufficient permissions or the file is in use by another process"

I'm on Windows 10. NA server

Going to start digging but I can't even start the game as it won't complete patching.

I was having that issue, and it was caused by a hanging ESO process in the background (I'd left the patcher open overnight).

Right click on your start menu, select "Task Manager" and look for anything ESO related under Background Processes and Apps. End Task on all of them, reopen the patcher, and try to launch it.

That fixed the problem for me.

This error can occur if the launcher does not have the required permissions to access certain folders.
We would advise you to run the Launcher as Administrator in order to resolve the issue:

On your desktop, Right click the Launcher and choose "Run as Administrator."

Going to be a while before I know if running as Admin will work as it looks like the launcher is downloading the whole game. I'm lucky like that lol

I was getting the 1005 error, closed the launcher, set it to run as admin, shut off background processes, restarted the launcher and it patched.

Now ESO crashes seconds after trying to start the game, I have no option to repair ESO. I ran the Game Consultant and it generated a report.

I was launching from the wrong folder. Went into my SteamApps folder and launched from there as Admin and everything is working fine, thanks.

I got that error and now it says its verifying the game files very slowly No ESO for me tonight I fear.
