(Post Patch) Instant Crash

As soon as I click play on the steam overlay (or open the launcher directly) the game crashes "unexpectedly" without any other information. I already submitted an error report, but anyone have ideas to fix this?

Ugh. Patch days.

Seems to be same here... I play without Steam and the game crushes as I start it after the new Update...

I have crashed 5 times in less than a half hr. I get the message saying "We're sorry. The Elder Scrolls Online has quit unexpectedly." Seems to happen when I travel, or open a door---pretty much anytime I would get a loading screen!

Playing on PC NA and not using steam by the way.

Pretty frustrating:(

Same here, the moment the screen goes black it crashed, even if the EU servers are offline.

I was able to update after getting the 1005 error but now ESO crashes seconds after I click play.

NA server, PC, non Steam


In the launcher crash report window it says,
"eso encountered a fatal error. (Error 6)
Description: Client Fatal Error"

I ran the Game Consultant...attached its report.

Repairing wants to download 37GBs of content...

yeah I'm getting Error 6 too. I play on PC EU and even now that the server is back up my game crashes before I can even get to the log in screen

edit- repairing my client now to see if that fixes the issue

Ran repair, it validated files...now its downloading almost 37,000 mb...correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it basically reinstalling ESO?

my repair also says there's about 32k mb remaining to download

I just uninstalled ESO and redownloading from scratch. Clearly something is wrong and CS is super slow to respond, this is the 3rd time this happens on patch day.

So 3-4 hours more out of the game

my Windows was completely up to date before and after discovering this issue

Instant crash after clicking on "Play".

MSI GT 70 (nVidia 780m), Win7, followed all the suggested fixes (complete reinstall, deleting user settings, KB2999226 - wich was already installed, nVidia settings, disabeling all start programs, running as admin, running in compatibility modes, 64bit/32bit client, reinstalling VC redist, firewall settings (why?!?) ....). And yes, my system is up-to-date. And yes, the previous version ran just fine.

Had the problem already on PTS, reported it, nothing was done and I was promised thet it would be fixed in the final version.
Well, it wasn´t.

Zenimax: Why do you bother to have a PTS if you do not properly track issues reported?

Same problem here. On one computer, Win7Pro, x64, AMD Radeon HD 8960M, all up to date it crashes without fail after hitting Play on launcher. Other computer is Alienware Area 51, Win10, x64, with basicallythe best everything. Whenever I zone, go into housing, etc it crashes 50% of the time.

I tried both 32 and 64 bit clients on each. Makes no difference.

Since you have AMD hardware my guess would be that it is a Windows 10 SDK problem which is _not_ fixed by KB2999226.

Based on what other people are saying, my repair/reinstall isn't going to fix it (if people are getting into the game but crashing too). that's relieving because it wouldn't be an issue on my side. also irritating because I can't control the amount of attention that my problem gets if I can't fix it myself

For what it's worth. folks. It appears the game runs for me in 32-bit client (64-bit crashes instantly). This seems to hold true for only some people with the instant-crash problem...

I got the error 6 message. I have run repair, I have removed launcher and reinstalled (the launcer is incredibly sluggish...) but to no help. I still get the error 6 report and crash immediately. What to do?

There MAY be a way for some but none of it works... I played MMOs for 15 years.. never had these issues...

I just want to update-

I'm on PC/EU and I was getting Error 6. I repaired client, and I think the client did a full reinstall of the game (at least the download size was big). Now I'm able to log in, select a character, and play the game without having done anything else.

Did you introduce a major change in this update? Like going from a win7 SDK to a win10 SDK?
If that is the case please consider reverting to the old solution - there seems to be a variety of problems - crashes immediately after starting the game, crashes in game, DLL issues, Error 6....

Seems this is a not-yet-finished version.

Since it is a free update you really could go back to the old version until you did your homework?

I'm updating windows with everything that it had in the way of optional updates, which I'm going to leave overnight, but since people are still having issues? Damn.
