With all the changes to heavy armor and set bonuses, is it really viable to run a character that isn't solely focused on either magicka or stamina? Looking at a future warden character and thinking a heavy armor setup that uses frost staff for tanking and a 2h for damage would at the least be an entertaining playstyle.

So far I only have one character that uses heavy armor, a stamina sorc with 1h/shield and dual wield, but he still makes fair use of spells and it's definitely a fun character to play, if a bit slower than a damage focused build. Can definitely take a lot of punishment too with 7 heavy.

Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS

It'll only work for a tank. Ever since they removed the soft caps on attributes, hybridization now comes at a massive opportunity cost for DPS and healers.

This is because the power scaling of an ability is equal to ([magicka/stamina] + [spell/weapon damage] * 10.5). If you have less of your attribute, your sheer power drops proportionally.

The only hybrid-esque build I can think of Pelinal's Aptitude and stacking weapon damage. You'd undoubtedly want medium armour for it since you get the most weapon damage out of it. You'd still have to focus entirely on Magicka or Stamina at that point, and you'd still come up very short compared to pure builds.

Of course again, tanks can afford to split their attributes, as long as they have enough health to survive. The Prismatic enchantment is probably best here.

I have 2 nasty pelinals pvp builds. Sorc and dk. If built right they can work wonders.

If you ignore the people who insist you need 20K DPS to be effective at anything in this game, then you can make a Hybrid Work. There are even a few armor sets to help you with this.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The removal of soft caps definitely hurt, but they haven't been knocked out of the game yet. Hybrid builds can work very well, so long as you're not expecting to just barge through content like a drunk rhinoceros like so many min/maxers think you are required to do.

your formula is wrong. 1. not all skills utilize the same ratio of damage. secondly your formula is inherintly off. damage of skills is resource / 10.5 + power * boosts only for normal instant cast skills. channeled skills apply a 20% buff over cast time, and some skills have unique formulas.

@Nestor What? I'm am probably the most lousy DPS at levelcap the pc eu server has seen till today (even with so called meta builds) and even I can pull far more than 15K DPS on my hybrid.
