Sneak attack consistency.

Been (Once again) toubled and confused with sneak attack consistency..

Basic rule is, you must be behind the target, eye must be closed and it must be melee hit or surprise attack to get bonus and the stun? Deathstroke sgould also work, right?

All sneak attacks i do, are from basic sneak/crouch.

So i have done this with about 40 enemies now as a test. It seems like 70% of my assumably perfect sneak qattacks are being registered as normal hits..

First the melee heavy attack from sneak.

50% of these stun, 25% also get the sneak bonus.

Surprise attack. 80% of these seem to fail, othervise they get the stun and bonus.

death stroke. 90% of these are succesful with stun but none get the bonus.

Bow heavy attack from sneak. 90% of these fail completely.

As i said all made from crouch/sneak.

The first years i played, i learned that this basic sneak attack works almost always when you are side to behind to other side from target, bow or blade, all work if eye is close, all get the bonus and stun. This was consistent.

Now, it fells like there is RNG behind every sneak attack with better chance on some weapons and worst with bow.

How is poor assassin supposed to know what to do when all hits seem to be based on pure dum luck?

So again. All attack i made as a test, are 90 degree arc from behind abd eye closed. Bow/blade heavy attacks and surprise attack and deathstroke from abilities..

I did not try ambush/teleport strike as that never seemed to work anymore.. Before, it counted as sneak attack from all direction, at least first 1.5 years from launch.

Any problems with anyone else, suggestions? Frustrations?

PS: All these done to PVE opponents, not interested in PVP in this game.

Are the attacks that "fail", getting crit damage?

Which morph of cloak are you using? One crit 100% of the time, the other doesnt.

Crit while stealthed doesn't guarantee a crit, just more base damage.
Crit chance is RNG unless you're using the clock that gives 100% on the next attack

    What set are you using?

I have found that viper (of all sets!) often gives poor sneak attack results especially with 2 handed attacks.

I think this is the OP's point - there isn't supposed to be any variation, is there?

I am not using cloak at all, normal sneak attacks are done with crouch/sneak and also grant bonus damage on abilities like surprise attack/veiled strike and deathstroke deathstroke. Also they give sneak attack bonus on melee heavy attacks and bow heavy attacks.

Or they should grant extra damage at least.

The reason why i do not use cloak is, that when i used it recently, its crit bonus never happened, always normal attacks, nothing more. i tried it with my newb level 10 NB and it does not work there either but i am not really interested about that.

All i am interested is basic sneak attacks from crouch, they have/should have a sneak bonus damage multiplier of 3 on heavy attacks at least and as far as i know, it should always work if you are hidden (Eye is closed).

    @goldenarcher1

What does set has to do with basic sneak attacks that anyone should be able to do with heavy attacks from behind (Crouch/sneak). The sets i am using, are 4xGladiator, 5xAshen grip, 2x red mountain. This is to support my heavy armour/sword&board build for my own enjoyment, not seking performance but survivability is good.

Still, regardless of armor type, it has always worked as long as i have been hidden, meaning the eye of sauron is closed ;) after i came back 2 moths ago, it has been problematic the whole time :(
