Warden pet?

Hey.

I read the details of expansions and even while im all happy happy with the new expansion, the warden pet makes me bit worried.

A bear was only thing mentioned, though i was hoping for a class that can tame itspet, i was skeptical about it but i do hate bears as a pet. My khajit was waiting for senche for example.

Will the warden be limited to only have bear as a pet? Anywhere any knownledge of this?

From what they've said, an entire skill line is based upon 'animals'... but it's pre-designed animals, not ones you 'tame' yourself.

As long as theres senche, im happy..

But i would like to be able to choose skins for pets... I am allready tired of everyone having a clannfear, a daedric monekey or daedric bird.

Variety is, what makes pets so interesting. They add to characters story.

Another of the pets is a Cliff Racer. It was mentioned briefly during the livestream.

Correct. The bear is just one of the animals we focused on for the official announcement trailer, but there are other animals through the skill line.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

They also seem to be adding cosmetic skins for the summons, like the white war bear for preorders. I'm assuming those that don't preorder only get a brown bear or something.

This is amazing, I love characters that have nature pets (the Sorc was ok but didn't fully satisfy). Can't wait to have a werewolf Warden and relive the Diablo 2 Druid days.

Why not go the route of the Hunter in WoW and allow the Warden to choose their own pet.

WoW's version was pretty complex at one point and they they refined it to have three types of Pet DPS / Tank / Support. All tameable animals fit into one of those three categories so only three sets of abilities needed to be worked on.

One of the BIG problems in ESO in my opinion is the homogeneity of appearance. Apart from dyes pretty much all X Level toons of Class Y look alike, because they are using the same appearance gear.

This is even more apparent with Sorc pets (which BTW look so damned awful that I deleted my Sorc before it got anywhere).

Please, please don't make the same mistake with Wardens.

Give players the ability to at least look different from one another, we all know the skill meta means most people are shoe-horned into just one or two builds per class already so we don't get to play / feel that much different from one another.

    All The Best
Those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse.
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

    Thanks for the info.

Though we need some way to give more variety to pets, predesigned are a bit bland while at the same time, pet class is amazing.

Personally, i dont need any other skill sets from different looks, all i want, is that no matter what pet skill we get, we have full cariety of beasts available for that skill. Perphaps just go around a world and have a new button you bind for "Capture animal appearance for skill x

Or crown store appearances... Appearances could also be behind quest achievments in certain areas, senche lioness from Reapers march, scuttler from Vvardenfell etc.

There could also be other skins for sorc, most notably what i have been missing is flame atronach which was pretty standard in Skyrim and Oblivion for me. That could be scamp skin for example.. Clannfear could have flesh atronach skin, storm atronach ultimate would have bone giant skin for example..

We need more variety to make each character more personal, both in skills and in appearance :)

Thanks Gina. Can you tell us how the "Gray Bear" works? Does it simply replace the brown bear in any Warden we make on an account that has the collector's edition, or is it something we can toggle? Can I have two Wardens with bears of different colors?

I'm curious about this since the despriction states "Get an exclusive grey War Bear to fight by your side while playing as a Warden." - So I guess this means it isn't an ordinary non-combat pet but rather an reskinned pet from a skill.

I am hoping it has something to do with the collections tab, like a combat pets tab, where you can choose a skin for it. This would allow them to put many more skins and possibly allow us to change the animal completely keeping it cosmetic only. For example we could change the bear to appear as a senche or a wolf instead.

I like this idea. Especially because it wouldn't mess with balancing but would still allow players to have a pet that suits their fancy.

I think a wolf would be a likely other option, along with a senche. That would be 3 different ones, not sure if they would put more than that through the skill line, we will see :)

As long as theres some more than multicolored bears hehe ^^

My senche wish a bit more complicated.. See i got that senche tiger mount way back and made a whole character around it, also themed to be senche tiger color so the mount and the character are the same look. Now what i am hoping for, is to either have a senche tiger or for other character, a senche lioness ;D

Whole families of cats ya see =^.^=

Skins would be nice way to get variety as long as there are real choices and multiple color variations of same animal.

Did you not watch the video? In it they talk about birds and a bear. And other "animals" (which were not named). Because the bear is the ultimate I'd imagine that you'll be using the bear quite a bit...hopefully it will grow on you.

    @drakhan2002_ESO

This one is but a simple cat person..

Anyway, bears are great animal companions but its just that.. I have this Dwarf in some other game who has had a bear companion for years after years, now i just connect bear and dwarf everywhere and would like some choice :)

I guess i bear with the bear at least for some timenut i would really apreciate some other skins in good color variations. Good being senche tiger, not moonlight senche tiger.. Senche panther, not striped senche panther.. Senche lioness, not spotted senche lioness.. You see where i am going? I wish for variety that has no extra spice on it. Just plain normal animals..

This is why i want pet classes that can tame beasts, predesigned beasts are too often made more "Cool" somehow and while other would love this, the taming thing can give everyone the right one. As i said, it does not need to be anyway else different, can have always same abilities, the important thing is, that there is endless choice.
