Should ZOS drop subscriptions?

I understand they need to make money, it is a business after all, but if they are going to start forcing players to buy the additional content to get access to it by calling it something different from DLC, then what is the point of subscribing?.
The craft bag is a dirty way of forcing people to subscribe. They introduced an annoying and time consuming mechanic that can be removed by paying monthly. That’s a scheme seen mostly on mobile free-to-play games, not on AAA buy-to-play games.

I don't know why people are surprised that an Expansion Pack is not included in the subscription price. It is standard MMO practice.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Earlier today people on this forum were saying the crafting bag is worth the price of the subscription all on it's own: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/317233/does-the-craft-bag-fundamentally-changes-the-fun-factor-for-the-game/p1

There's been numerous discussions about making it available to non-subs, even in a limited form (e.g. selling space for 10 items at a time in the crown store) and the consensus always seemed to be that they should keep it exclusive to subs and if you want it you should sub because it's well worth it.

I imagine quite a few people are feeling differently right now, but I'd give it a few days at least for initial reactions to die down before trying to have a discussion like this.

(Also technically they didn't introduce a new mechanic to force people to sub - they just didn't make the fix to an existing problem available to everyone. When the game launched, the sub was mandatory and included everything there was no crafting bag, you had to buy inventory space with gold (no option to use "free" sub crowns, those didn't exist either) to store all your materials.)

I think you are a bit off the mark here. The problem isn't them charging money for expansions. WoW has a MANDATORY monthly sub and they still charge MORE than ESO for their expansions, so whatever to that whole beef.

I DO think they need more perks though. Specifically, I think that subscribers should get at least 10 casino crates per month for supporting the game through that tragic low point, moving forward.

The only additional perk I'd like to see for Subscribers is the ability to purchase one of each mount upgrade per day, rather than just one total.

    Two things, I guess.
    1) We haven't seen much to explain why Morrowind deserves to be called an expansion. It comes with a new class, fair enough, but other than that everything could just be included in a normal DLC. ZOS needs to show some gameplay and tell us how the landmass compares to other regions, particularly Wrothgar (the 30 hours they mentioned weren't very reassuring).
    2) People subbed with the expectation that it's a method of unlocking all future content - if not directly, then at least through the accumulated crown stipend. That is not the case anymore. This leaves us with the next 9 months of zero new content for subscribers (Homestead is free, Morrowind requires an additional purchase anyway).

WOW, yes. But in GW2 for example, that is a B2P game like ESO, they charge for the expansion but it doesn`t have a subscription.

No...keep subs - helps the devs make new content. Plus the monthly "dues" are incredibly inexpensive entertainment compared to say a steak dinner and a movie...and that's for only one night!

GW2 went F2P when they released their expansion, so I would say we are coming out of this pretty well since F2P wasn't announced.

Mmmmm.... no. Inventory was the way it was since the beginning of the game. They introduced the crafting bag to remedy that. Unlike in BDO where the whole inventory/weight system was designed from the get go to make you spend money.

That said, I think they should just make the craft bag available to all players for free (and I say that as a subscriber).

God no, why? You realize subscriber revenue gets you all these cool new DLC's right? I mean, there has been a steady rise in players and judging by the new content and full CGI trailer they are making use of that revenue. Other games that have come out in the last few years and are free to play are generally P2W cash stores. At least ESO get's its money more fairly.

And my ESO+ crafting bag? NO ONE TAKES THAT AWAY FROM ME! NO ONEEEEE!!!!!!!!

As a subscriber I don't expect Morrowind to be included since it's supposedly an expansion much larger than previous DLC's but they do need to add more benefits to being a monthly subscriber. $15 a month needs to offer more than a craft bag because I bought the gold edition of the game and so I'm not even benefiting from the DLC access that was previously a worthwhile reason to subscribe.
