"Morrowind Online" and Steam

Well, I didn't think that having bought the game on Steam would force me to buy crowns on Steam - but it did.
So I'm careful now. It shouldn't be an issue in this day and age - but obviously it is.

Interesting. I've purchased crowns on the ZOS page, and had them in my ESO via Steam. I definitely understand the concern if you've run into issues like that prior.

The thing is, there's several "Steam-ESO". The ones before november 2016, the ones after november 2016, the ones that are linked (or force-linked) and the ones that aren't, and the non-Steam accounts linked to Steam. As the recent "ESO+ bug" showed, each of them is in a different "software" situation.
My ESO was purchased on Steam in 2014 and, while I always could subscribe and unsubscribe from ESO+ via the ESO site without any Steam interference, each time I have bought crowns, I was redirected to Steam, forced to used Steam Wallet and back to ESO to get crowns.
Now I have NOT linked my account to Steam, I never use the launcher nor Steam to launch the game (I use a direct link to the .exe file) and I would like to be sure that I can use any code purchased anywhere to unlock "Morrowind".
I ask for official confirmation because in the past, nearly all discount game sites which sold game-time cards who mention that it was NOT working with Steam versions of the game. Note that I don't care about a discount (I'll find 40 euros somewhere no problem), I just want the freedom to purchase outside of Steam.

(And for anyone who wonders : yup, I'm no Steam fan :D )

I purchased ESO from Steam a while back.
I purchased the crowns from ESO store and I set up my subscription on THIS website, ESO.
Recently I was asked to link my accounts and I did, or knowing what the consequences were.
I purchased crowns and was redirected to Steam wallet whereas I used to get them directly from ESO.
Other than the temporary loss of craft bag fiasco I have been "okay" with the current setup

I just preordered from the ESO WEBSITE and my account information ON THIS WEBSITE shows my Morrowind purchase

The question is: does that work with my "Steam version" of the game?

In my opinion I should be able to download in June and apply the code, but I'd like official confirmation.

    I have a different situations.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno

I would have likely used steam, if you could, when I purchased ESO.

Can I use steam to get the Morrowind expac?

I am sure the end reason is financial, it would be helpful if those like myself could finally get a steam key and take all our goodies with us. Of course, the people who ended up paying twice to get on steam might feel used.

Just bought Morrowind on Steam and did not receive my code at all. Restarting my comp doesn't work and Steam support doesn't respond. How can I fix this? It's in my library, just, no code.

Haha it is funny to see the community manager reply that fast but actually NOT respond to what was asked.
So, any reply to the original message by now could be nice.

As many other player, I am in the following case:
I have imperial edition (bought in 2014, a nice box),
I will link it to steam -(but honestly i m afraid to, considering all the issues you have)
I bought physical collector edition of morrorwind (I must be crazy),
    and i m even more afraid ...

    Some answers? ^^ Please? ^^

And when official people from ZOS answer for our questions???

I bought Imperial Edition through Steam and linked it. Now I am found Morrowind upgrade in another store with good discount about 20%, if I buy it, could I use activation code in ESO website and would it be linked to my steam account?

Since the expansion is going to be applied to your account I would assume it would not matter if you purchased a physical copy outside of Steam. You will still launch and play the game through the Steam interface, but the Morrowind expansion would be applied to your account. In the other case of a non Steam edition owner buying the xpac in Steam on that I am unsure of and would like to know myself.
Remember, you're unique... just like everyone else.

There are some unresolved questions in this thread that the link doesn't answer. Should we open individual tickets?

If you purchased ESO through Steam, you should get the Morrowind upgrade on Steam as well. We have a small help article that will direct you to the right place: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37479/

I have TESO installed through the Zenimax installer, but I just downloaded (~60G, took forever at local coffee shops as I have capped Internet at home) TESO on Steam (since that's where I originally purchased it and also my Morrowind expansion) solely to link my (and my wife's) Steam account to my ESO account (see https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36572/kw/steam key ). I found no other way to link them. I then uninstalled TESO from Steam as I don't intend to use Steam to manage such a self-updating behemoth.

I purchased a physical copy from Amazon.

This means that I miss all of the pre-order goodies, despite pre-ordering.

Amazon will give me the code 2 days before they ship the copy.

I've been requesting a code just to get me in Morrowind and it's taken two days and I don't know how many reps to get me a key.

But get this: THE KEY IS INVALID.

Yes. They product key given to me by tech support doesn't work.

    So I'm waiting. Again.

DO NOT PURCHASE MMORPGs THROUGH STEAM. Why do people do this? Most of the ones I've tried through the service (Warframe, DCUO) lock your in game purchases and early access goodies through the Steam interface/ wallet and it's very unfriendly to outside codes/ etc. It's terrible. The only good aspect of Steam is the sales, but even then it's an embarrassment of riches and we buy more than we'll ever play.

Edit: their customer service makes United look like angels, too. I waited--no lie--TWO YEARS for an automated ticket response to a game I'd deleted what felt like a lifetime ago (Van Helsing, which was rubbish at launch).

Hi, I am in a dilemma as well, I purchased the original ESO game from Zenimax official back in 2014, can I buy the Morrowind DLC collectior's edition upgrade from Steam? Will I receive a code or something? Or the Steam upgrades are only available if the game was bought from Steam. Thanks

^ I think you can. I purchased ESO:TU on Steam, but nothing else. All crowns and subscriptions were bought on the Zenimax website and Morrowind was bought via authorized reseller. Never had a single problem.

Thank you for your answer maboleth, I am not in a hurry to buy it ATM, so I will still look into the matter for the time being.
