Morrowind Questions

Any idea on what the file size for this will be? I'm debating on downloading it but if the file size is way to large, will have to get the physical copy.

I'd love to get the collectors edition and be able to get the stuff with it, what would happen to my version of ESO (purchased from Amazon) if I bought the collectors edition? I know it comes with it but I'd like to be able to get the journal as well.

Will Warden be available in the base game as well? Any chance of character slot expansions?

Would I be able to get this game yet still play with my other friends that do not have the Morrowind expansion? I know you can go from Morrowind into Tamriel from what I recall from the livestream so that made me curious.

Sorry for the barrage of questions but best to ask'em now then wait a bit. XD

Edit: why did the price increase $10? When I looked at one of them before, it was just 39.99. Now it is 49.99.

    We don't know how big it will be, but probably rather large.
    Warden will most likely not ve base game.
    If your friends don't have Morrowind you can't play with them on Vvardenfell, but you'll still be able to play with the in tamriel.

    You can still play with your friends who don't have the expansion. The expansion works exactly like a normal DLC, so those who don't have it can't visit you when you are in it, but you can just grab a wayshire and travel to them in a non DLC zone.

    Hope that clears it up.

    Those other questions I have no answer to. Hope you'll get some!

    Likely won't know until it drops on PTS ...

    ... but guesses in the forums are about 2x to 3x the content as Orsinium.

    So, the ballpark for that would be 10GB ... scary or awesome depending on your perspective.

    Even if you get the disc you'll still have to download it.

    Then what is the point for the disc at all? That would be absolutely pointless. I can see patches but the disc would have to have it on there. My internet is extremely slow, if I got a nice window to download and can leave the PC on, a 10GB game isn't terrible but it's still very slow. Before my net got upgraded a bit it would take 2 or so days to get a 18GB game and when I got ESO, the patches I had to install after using the disc took about 2-3 days on it's own. This is why I prefer discs over everything else. I'm really hoping my ISP gets better service soon.

    @MasterPerceval

    Okay, that's helpful. I was considering getting the collectors edition just for the book but looks like I may just grab the disc itself.

    @MAEK

    I hope it is base game cuz I'd like to be able to get it but I can understand both ways. I just hope we get more character slots. I'd need about 3 so I can make a new warden on each side of Tamriel.

    @Taleof2Cities

    Oops, didn't see your reply, 10GB isn't to terrible but isn' tthe best. Read up for some clue. XD

    So with the Collectors Edition (if I get that one anyway), will you be able to just get the expansion or would you need to reinstall the main game as well? I'm not sure how that part works.

    No one knows the file size but the map size/amount of content is predicted to be 1.5x to 2x the size of Orsinium, so the file size will probably be similar. Maybe a bit bigger than that because of the warden and PvP stuff.

    Not sure what you mean about what happens to your copy of ESO if you get the collectors edition. If you get any Upgrade version of Morrowind it will contain a code you can add to your existing account, if you get a version which comes with the base game (like the collectors edition) you can use the code to create a new account or add it to an existing one. Either way you keep everything you've already got.

    If you're playing on console you can apparently give someone else your original game disc and they'll be able to play (but they won't have Morrowind), but that doesn't work on PC because you need an account code to create an ESO account.

    Warden characters will be able to play the base game, but only people who own Morrowind will be able to make one.

    And yes you can play with people who don't have Morrowind. It's basically like a DLC zone - if you don't own it you can't go there, but you can still meet people who have it in other areas of the game.

    They're making 2 extra character slots available to buy in the crown store, but there won't be any free ones.

    This is the way of a lot of MMOs, also games that are exclusive to Steam, though there's a workaround for the latter.
    DemiDemon wrote: »

    Yes and no. You can play your Warden in the base game. You cannot roll up one without owning Morrowind. It's a little unclear if you can do the Wailing Prison as a Warden, if that's important to you.

    The cap is going from 12 to 14, but we're not getting free slots. Though that could change down the line.

    Yes and no. You can always go back into the base game zones to play with them, but they can't go to Vvardenfell without the expansion.

    You will only be able to create a Warden if you own Morrowind and ZOS will drop a Character Slot upgrade to the Crown store. IIRC there will be 2 new slots.

    Mostly I don't want to give up my current acc or anything. I'd like to keep it so that's why I asked about the collectors edition. I may just grab the upgrade disc but if I did wind up ever getting collectors edition, I'd probably get the regular code to a friend of mine as a gift.

    Wow, they did that with the Xbox version? Kinda wish I played the Xbox One version instead now. -lol-

    Alright, that settles it about Warden. Wish it wasn't like that but understandable.

    Yay, so I don't gotta worry about missing out with my friends. :D

    2 isn't bad but wish it was 3 cuz as I said, one per zone.

    @starkerealm

    Not really on the whole prison thing, that's not a big deal. I just really hope it's not a download. Crappy net connections stop me on that. >_< It's the main reason why I do not have Doom or ARK yet.

    Wish we knew why the price suddenly changed. Dx They seem to be the right price now? Idk, I plan to order from Amazon when I do that anyway so hopefully the price is correct on there.

    @Martan

    Thank you! :D

    No.

    It's unclear if everyone will get all of the Morrowind content wrapped into their install, but it's likely.

    The way the game works right now, the client has data for all of the stuff in the game (and some stuff that's not.) This is because, say, if you see someone with the Tiger Senche mount, it needs to know what that looks like, to show it to you. It doesn't matter that you can never obtain that item (unless you already have it), but your install needs that information.

    Similarly, you have all of the DLC zones (Wrothgar, Hew's Bane, and The Gold Coast) installed. This is for two reasons. One: If you decide to subscribe, or buy them, you don't have to sit through the download. Two: it means ZOS only needs to maintain a single unified file setup for the client.

    With Vvardenfell, you're (almost certainly) going to get all of the data for it when the expansion launches. (Some of it's already been added in patches, which is how the community was kinda aware that Wardens were back in development, and that Vvardenfell was being worked on.

    It's possible they'd buck the tradition there, but very unlikely, in large part because everything they're doing is about making sure they have as easy a time as possible maintaining the game, and avoiding unnecessary dev forks.

    Because this is an MMO, it's going to be a mandatory update. Someone else was guessing 3-4.5 gigs, which seems plausible. It's more likely that pieces of it will get rolled out over the next few months, rather than the entire thing getting dumped on us at once. But, if you're actually playing ESO, you'll see an update hit when Morrowind drops or (more likely) a few days before. That should include all, or nearly all of the update.

    Once it releases, you'll need to add the codes to your account to unlock the new content, and that's it. Your install should already be up to speed at that point.

    I just picked up the CE upgrade for $60. I don't know what happened, but I can live with that price (and didn't have cash on hand when it was first announced.) It's possible that was simply a mistake, or there might have been some "early bird" special that was poorly communicated. I don't know.

    Yeah, I know they toss you the DLCs when they come out but cannot access them while not subscribed or purchased, I don't know how expansions work. If I actually played WoW I might have known. XD

    I'm just considering the collectors version but if that's the case, I'd love to toss my code for the base game to a friend of mine. Been trying to coax her into playing and am waiting for a free play weekend to pop up so she can try it out and decide. If she did like it, could easily give her said code to play.

    Yeah, if you buy the boxed edition, there'll probably be a separate core game code you can give away. Now, having said that, I don't know. I bought the original game through ZOS's store (and preordered Morrowind the same way), so I've never handled the physical codes for ESO. I've seen other MMOs that baked their account bonuses into the base game key (Cryptic comes to mind), so it's possible you'd only get one code, which you could add to your account, which would give you the base game, Morrowind, and the CE content.

    I think it could be two separate codes, but it's likely to be just 1.

    My husband pre-ordered the Digital Imperial Edition and he just had 1 code for the base game, the Imperial Upgrade and the pre-order bonuses. I bought a physical pre-order copy and that had 1 code for the base game and a separate one for the pre-order bonuses.

    But that might be because it was easier for them to produce it that way - after the game was released they just needed to stop printing the extra bit of paper with the pre-order code on it.

    Since they're not going to change what you get in the collectors edition box after Morrowind is released they might just put it all on 1 code.

    But we won't know for sure until someone receives their copy. (And unfortunately then it'll probably be too late for anyone else to order it.)
