A few questions for an improving player

letsdothedungeonslow
OK so I've been playing for a few months now and have some characters with a respectable number of CP, etc. But I'm still wondering about a couple of things:

Money and prices
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

1. How are prices for gear determined? Because they all seem really way too high in guild stores and when people offer them in the chat. Which leads me onto...
2. How do you end up with a very high amount of gold, short of buying GP with real life $$$? I've grinded a tank from Lvl 1 to CP160 and kept all the dosh and it's less than 100K, and many items are much more than this. Is it the case that I simply have to grind for expensive items and sell them myself? Really?
3. When, in a few weeks, all of my crafters are able to make anything, how can I choose a price that is reasonable for people who want me to craft for them, so I'm not selling myself short but am also not being a money-grubbing AH?

Addons and performance
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

4. Is there an addon that allows me to create bar setups and swap them in and out fairly quickly?
5. Do addons slow the game down? Or is the high latency and low FPS purely ZOS being lame?
6. Once I've mastered my weaves and bar-swaps and have a decent high level character, is there anything else I need to do before attempting to clear all dungeons in Veteran Hard Mode, or is it not too much of a problem for good players?

Thanks in advance

Let me see if I can help.

    1. How are prices for gear determined? Because they all seem really way too high in guild stores and when people offer them in the chat. Which leads me onto...
Prices are simply determined by what people are willing to sell/buy for. In some cases, there is the cost of certain mats to keep in mind, but for looted items, the trait is more important than the quality, with the exception of jewelry.

    4. Really?
Those items are top-of line gear for min/maxers. Also keep in mind that the fact that they are listed for doesn't mean they will SELL at that price. I only ever paid more than 100k for something a couple of times.

    6. When, in a few weeks, all of my crafters are able to make anything, how can I choose a price that is reasonable for people who want me to craft for them, so I'm not selling myself short but am also not being a money-grubbing AH?

That's a bit hard. I don't craft for profit so I can't tell you, really. But the cost of mats (if they are not provided), plus a couple of thousand gold per piece for your trouble seems reasonable.

    4. Is there an addon that allows me to create bar setups and swap them in and out fairly quickly?
Yes. I use Wykkyd's Outfitter, but I also know of Dressing room. They allow you to set up different gear sets and save them to quickly swap. Wykkyd's also lets you save skill bars. I don't know about Dressing Room.

    5. Do addons slow the game down? Or is the high latency and low FPS purely ZOS being lame?
Some will, some won't. Master Merchant, for example, scans the guild stores as you log in, so that's always a bit of lag. I hear mini-map is also a hog, but I don't use that.

    6. Once I've mastered my weaves and bar-swaps and have a decent high level character, is there anything else I need to do before attempting to clear all dungeons in Veteran Hard Mode, or is it not too much of a problem for good players?
Have you cleared them in normal mode? Do you have a good understanding of the mechanics? Then you should be fine. Stuff will hit harder and be harder to kill, though so mistakes can be deadly.

    I hope you have fun!
