What should be done to Homestead?

The idea of making housing system is very good, but as for me, we still have too few reasons to buy the houses.

Practically, everything we can do in the houses can also be done in any city of an alliances and the time spent on getting to the house or to the town doesn't differ very much.

So I think that adding slots for items to be stored in the containers of houses (the bigger the house is - the more slots you get) will be a great solution for that problem.
And what do you think about what should be done to Homestead?

Agree, the idea about additional slots is nice.

I have no doubt that more storage will arrive eventually. It just didn't make the cut for the initial release.

Firstly, about the slots idea:

Instead of slots, i would prefer individual containers. (E.g. chests, mannekins, etc). You would be allowed to have say 10 containers per house (although this would change with house size). Containers come in different sizes, with the largest being available on the crown store. They are craftable. They are not linked to each other or the bank.

What i would change most though:

Make it MUCH less of a grind. Why so many materials for such tiny things!!!??? Especially for simply cosmetic tiny things.

If or when storage comes to housing, I think it will be more along the lines of a "housing bag". Like a crafting bag but for housing items only, spare furniture, collectables, etc. There's no way I see housing storage being like bank or personal inventory slots.

This is my opinion....as much as additional space sounds good I do not and have never wanted it gated by a house.

I also have not read any QoL from those who say they want housing to add inventory or storage.

Consider this means traveling to a specific home to get something rather than accessing these items via our bank or inventory.

It's already a practice to log in other characters and store things and while that's not QoL it's a player choice and not a game flaw or lack of design.

To be clear, I would enjoy added space but personally I believe that asking for a horse cart makes a whole lot more sense.

Nothing. In my opinion, Homestead is good as it is.

They said on the recent ESO Live that the exclusion of storage was from the launch version only, and that it is being considered as one aspect of what they fully intend to be an extensively enhanced housing system over time. This is purely the beginning.

As for other functions, the game will suffer terribly if the housing becomes a complete substitute for the cities. Where that has happened in other games the cities have become deserted as everyone stays in their own private instance and new players log in to what feels like an empty game.

A House with ZERO additional storage is really... pointless.

The fact that the Devs "discussed" additional storage, but it "didn't make the cut" just shows how drastically disconnected from the player base these Devs really are.

i agree with what others have stated-that they have to be cautious about doing anything that will cause the cities to become deserted. That has happened in other games and the devs had to go back and undo the damage. But this part. Yes. I completely understand their needing money to continue development. i am completely supportive of that-within reason. If you make me feel i'm being scammed-my positivity towards support takes a nose dive. This feels like being scammed

In my opinion they have given no purpose to housing.

There is no reason for anyone to visit your homestead with the exception of RP

Whacking on a training dummy for a bit has it limited uses.

Attuned crafting stations are nice, but there are only a very few stations out in the wild that are taxing to get to.


In my opinion, housing should be more like EQ2. That game gave people (including strangers to you) a legitimate reason to come to your home.

Why on earth would I blow years worth of mats and trait stones decorating a homestead that only I will probably ever see? This is supposed to be an MMO and becomes more and more a single player RPG every day.

they need to lower the amount of gold (price) to buy the house i do not have 3mil gold yet. or whatever the price was for a large home.

I want mannequins (pls give a female option unlike in Skyrim) for my extra armor sets and rugs that don't cut thru the floor and vanish (hope this is fixed from the pts). And of course I want to display the cool stolen stuff I've been hoarding that's taking up my inventory, especially the floating fairy castle.

There are other threads about storage in housing. Even one or two polls about it. Duplication of the same thing doesn't really add anything. Especially since the polls do not give Zos worthy information.

Why would ZOS add storage to housing, when only 3% of the player base has upgraded once or twice the bank and inventory!

I don't just want to be able to store items in my house - I want to be able to display them there. So for me extra storage slots if you own a house isn't really a solution, they may as well just increase the cap on the bank.

I'd prefer a system that lets us place items from our inventory just like we can with furniture, so we can decorate our houses with them.

Nothing. In my opinion, Homestead is good as it is.

Housing here isn't about inventory for me so I'm fine with it the way it is. In games from back in the day like EQ2 where inventory was sparse and unorganized (remember having boxes inside your boxes?) it was needed. But in this game where you have a banker and all your inventory is in one place and expandable without needing physical items to do so it's not. The housing in this game will have other benefits that get conveniently ignored by the "not my type of content" crowd.

Nothing needs to be done because I won't be playing it. In my opinion there are so many things wrong with it in so many areas -- concept, design, execution, etc. -- that they would never be able to fix it to my satisfaction even if they tried.

Storage didn't make the cut for day one release.

In game we have alts, gold for backpack, gold for bank slots and gold for riding lessons to increase inventory storage.
In crown store we have these as well.
in game we may or may not have guild banks to use depending on our setup.

So like over a half dozen ways now to get storage in game.

Didn't make the cut but a completely new feature - dps dummy with after action stat did.

Not everyone plays the same game the same way and for the same fun that i do so even if housing is a sub-game i may not be totally into, i got no problem with them adding it.

As for what kinds of functionality i want to see added... and no just extra storage is not high on my list. here is from the other threads about the same thing

i had a list on other threads but here goes:

New Functionality
"Plots" - let me plant/dig/enchant a variety of nodes so that i have "patch of kresh" or start a "rubedite dig" or set out some "thick leather traps" or enchant a runestone node" or plant a patch of "Ambassador root" so that once a day i can harvest my "garden." now of course these should be within reason but think of them as the housing method of duplicating the hireling passives.
Manageable Storage - where i can build a chest or rack and store "groups" of things and then NAME the chest/rack so i know on hover-cursor whats inside at least by the name of the chest. So give me multiple flavors of these.
Mirror/Racks - Simple - right click to select "swap all" and my worn armor, jewels, quickslots all transfer to the Mirror/rack and what is on there loads onto me. plus a slower items by item load or take for when i want to be picky.

Convenience
Repair Station - Obviously let me "do" my own repairs - paying for the ingredients just like i would pay your typical grocer to fix my Gold Quality Pauldrons of Selene.
Guild Mailboxes (Runners) - Allowing access to a given "guild" from my home for acquiring dailies and "turning in" dailies." mages guild would include consumable writs and their madness stuff, fighters would include equipment dailies and their dolmen stuff, Undaunted would include pledges and their delve stuff, TG, DB etc.
Merchant Couriers - Each is tied to a specific cluster of guild stores (like say the ones in windhelm or the ones in Wayrest) allowing me to access them from home for buying.
Guild Couriers - Secure and confidential, these allow me acces to my guild banks and stores but not my normal banking activities.
Groomsman - These take care of the horses and provide riding lessons if you have the cash.


NOTE None of these would duplicate or replace the crown bought merchant or banker.
NOTE: Only the plots are "creative"(putting new stuff into inventory.)
NOTE: most are either better organization or saving the time to walk over to commonly available NPCs time after time after time.

No need storage for more storage, but for interactability with the furniture other than sitting on a chair o switch candles and for display purpose only: racks, mannequins, trophies...

Without the ability to actually display the actual items I have actually received as loot or rewards from actual gameplay, housing is a non-starter for me.

Without mannequins, weapon racks, wall mounts, display cases, and surfaces that can display the actual mementos of my adventures, I see no reason to participate in Homestead.

That would be my wish as well, and it would also make the most sense. Instead, in a design that only shows how out of touch ZoS is, not only can you not put simple inventory items like a bowl of stew in your home, but you also need to FARM LIKE A MAD MAN to hunt down the recipe for that stew. Then you farm like a mad man again for the esoteric ingredients for the recipe, just for that stupid bowl of stew that I could have easily cooked myself with provisioning. Then the trifecta of craziness concludes with the BIZARRE nature of the ingredients: instead of food ingredients to craft a stew, you need nickel, wax, runes, etc.! This would be normal if Homestead was designed by ALIENS.

that is what i expect when i enter my house.
it was like this in morrowind, and skyrim and all MMO's i have ever played.

Acquiring the room at the inn should have closet space for bound sets, the homes should have more space for bound sets and also separate space bound weapons.
