Breaking of the Green Pact

Damon_Nightshade
Can the ability to cannibalize targets somehow, either through perks or Namira's Ring, be added to ESO? Because this feature is not added, players roleplaying as a zealot Bosmer are all technically all breaking the Green Pact, which is sort of immersion breaking. Could this feature possibly be added in the future?

Meat mandate forces cannibalism after defeating enemies.

I'm pretty sure the green pact doesn't force cannibalism. Also there are green pact friendly food options. And finally doesn't the green pact only effect plants in valenwood.

Doesn't the Green Pact state that you have to eat a kill within three days? The rest I believe is true, though I would like to see this added for role play reasons.

...and all that pork you find in bosmer lands with no pigs around is important and not "long pig"? :p;)

But, if you wanna nom on corpses, you gotta go werewolf.

Even though it would totally make sense if devout green pact bosmer characters had a chance to find pork on any random humanoid opponent they kill... just sayin...

It is not quite the Green Pact but the Meat Mandate part .
From UESP.net : The requirement to eat fallen enemies before three days pass is perhaps the most shocking part of the Pact to outsiders. Though many Bosmer still try to respect the Green Pact, the practice of eating dead enemies diminished by the Second Era, and is typically only practiced in the most remote villages.] The family members of the warrior who slaughtered the enemy may help him with his meal. Bosmer who honor this facet of the Green Pact typically attempt to prepare themselves before large battles by fasting

So you see, cannibalism is not really what defines the Bosmer. Its practice has greatly diminished and it is only their fallen enemies which must be eaten

I'd like to see the consequences of not eating all of your enemy in three days. Which god would curse you? Or would the Wood itself attack you?

Considering how many enemies you have to kill in quests, either every bosmer would weigh a literal ton, or they'd be dead from overeating constantly.

The only way Bosmer can break the pact is by harming nature (cutting plants, chopping trees,...) or by consuming fruits/vegetables/plants/...

So yeah, Bosmer can eat any animal products without having to resort to cannibalism

I don't see how any of this is relevant to whether or not it should be an option.

Bosmer are known for eating the dead. Even if it's not a strict mandate anymore bosmer talk about this all the time in dialogue. There's no reason for this not to be an option, at least as an emote.

In Deshan public dungeon, there is a memento reward that is a sack of human meat. It has an animation with it when used. You could use this fro RP purposes.

Not quite. This isn't about what they can eat. Its about what they are supposed to do with dead enemies they've killed. http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Green_Pact

The Green Pact, also known as the Treaty of Frond and Leaf,[1] is a strict code upheld by many of the Bosmer of Valenwood.[2] It is said to have guided their existence since the beginning of the "great story". Its rules are clear. Do not harm the forests of Valenwood. Do not eat anything made from plant life. Eat only meat. When enemies are conquered, their meat must be eaten, not left to rot. Do not kill wastefully. Do not take on the shape of beasts ....

The cannibalistic "Meat Mandate" of the Pact sets them apart religiously from other cultures. The requirement to eat fallen enemies before three days pass is perhaps the most shocking part of the Pact to outsiders.[2][8] Though many Bosmer still try to respect the Green Pact, the practice of eating dead enemies diminished by the Second Era, and is typically only practiced in the most remote villages.[8] The family members of the warrior who slaughtered the enemy may help him with his meal.[2][8] Bosmer who honor this facet of the Green Pact typically attempt to prepare themselves before large battles by fasting.[2]

There is a quest where you find a tribe that used the Meat Mandate to get their revenge on the enemies that killed them. Before the last battle they knew they would lose, they all drank poison. The enemy tribe that won the battle died after eating their dead enemies. You can hear some of the ghosts talking about it; one was afraid to drink the poison, but her friend pointed out that they would all be dead before the poison would cause them any pain.

The Green Pact is a pretty strict code that teaches a respect of all life. Can't eat plants, can only eat meat. Must eat all of the meat, even slain enemies. Makes the Bosmer more hesitant to engage in aggression or warfare.

The Green Pact also forbids the curse of Lycanthropy.

Can't take on the shape of beasts. :)

According to how you interpret the Green Pact, it may also forbid Vampirism - as the various vampiric changes may be considered shapeshifting.

No flower picking in Valenwood. The rest of the continent is okay. Also receiving plants from others to do alchemy is okay. Also if the plants are already on the ground (naturally fallen, not cut down) they're okay.

The Green Pact is about not harming the gift that Y'frre gave us, that gift was Valenwood. Y'frre didn't gift the rest of Tamriel to the Bosmer, not yet anyway.

Yeah. My bosmer nightblade is going to be in trouble over that "don't take the shape of beasts" thing. Maybe they'll nerf ww to the point I don't want to bother with it......

Plenty of them, they just get their ingredients from non-Bosmer, or use animal reagents.

That's not the basis of the Pact. The Bosmer made a deal with the spirits of the Valenwood. The Forest will protect and shelter the Bosmer, in return the Bosmer cannot harm the Forrest directly, which includes consuming plant life. I've gotten the idea that the Meat Mandate is actually separate from the Pact, in which it's just a much older cultural tradition left over from the ancient days where the Bosmer used to invoke Wild Hunts or whatever they're called.

But like others have said, the Green Pact only applies to Bosmer living within the Wood. Those who live on the outskirts of the Forrest like the border with Elsweyr violate the Pact all the time with no consequence.
